Welcome to the Frequent Miler Week In Review series. Every weekend we recap what you might have missed from Frequent Miler during the week.

This Week From Frequent Miler

Thanks to terrific input from readers in response to Greg’s post about the thwarting of his Freedom Unlimited plans, he was able to find the magic formula to product change From Sapphire Preferred to Freedom Unlimited, No Waiting. Read about how he did it so you can follow the steps.

Next up, Greg reviewed his 2017 Hotel Elite Status Plans, which made me really regret not looking into a Marriott Platinum challenge before my recent South African Protea stays.  That said, I’ve been pretty happy with my matched Hilton Diamond status and how quickly I’ve accumulated points from their generous promotions.  I plan to maximize the value of Hyatt Globalist status this year while spending my way to Hilton Diamond status for the future.

If you’ve been opening credit cards regularly for sign-up bonuses, you’ve surely had some applications that were not instantly approved.  If you’ve ever wondered if you should call when your application status goes pending, you can find the answer here.

Folks in the midwest are pretty excited that FTU Advanced is coming to Minneapolis this June.  Greg is a confirmed event speaker and I look forward to joining him there and meeting some of you!  I’ve seen Greg speak at FTU events several times — you don’t want to miss it. I find that the tips I learn from other attendees far outweigh the cost of admission.

In new discoveries this week, the Frequent Miler unearthed The Amex Business Platinum Awesome 1 Time Exception. I wouldn’t suggest that you book relying on this method to work, but neither would I be surprised if it does as I’ve yet to be disappointed by Amex customer service.

In another display of dominance over 1-800-Flowers, Greg shows how you can get $43.50 worth of Amtrak travel PLUS flowers for someone you love for $35.   Because nothing says “I love you” like $35 worth of flowers and a 1-way train ticket :-).

That’s this week at Frequent Miler. Stay tuned for some of our favorite articles from around the web and a reminder of this week’s Last Chance Deals. Have a great weekend!
