Quick Thoughts
The $75 gift card you get is a Tango Card. That’s a multi-brand gift card that can be redeemed for gift cards for most major gift card brands, as well as for Visa and Mastercard gift cards, and cashout via PayPal. That means the $75 is effectively as good as cash, thereby giving you $25 per night rebate if booking a three night stay.
Bear in mind that bookings through AARP/Expedia will be classed as an Online Travel Agency (OTA) booking. That means that you won’t earn elite night credits, won’t earn hotel points, and you won’t receive elite status benefits. This type of offer is therefore best used for stays at independent hotels, when you don’t care about earning hotel points, where elite benefits don’t matter (e.g. the stay would be at a hotel brand that offers free breakfast to all guests), etc.

Good points. Yes, you don’t have to be ‘retired’ to join AARP, associate members get discounts from 18-50, and full benefits start at age 50, even though their name is the American Association of Retired Persons. You also don’t have to be 62 to retire (that’s just the earliest age for starting to receive reduced Social Security monthly benefits.) If you got enough mun-muns, or, if you just enjoy ‘livin’ off the land,’ you can ‘retire’ anytime you want. So ‘fun,’ right?
