Air France / KLM Flying Blue gives you miles on Apple products other portals exclude

Yesterday, Air France/KLM Flying Blue announced a new portal for Apple purchases that, while somewhat odd, could prove relatively useful.

Apple is already on many shopping portals, but there’s always a laundry list of exclusions that encompass many of Apple’s most popular products – things like current-year MacBooks and iPhones. Flying Blue’s portal doesn’t exclude those items, allowing folks making a substantial Apple purchase to add portal rewards onto whatever they already earn from their credit card.

Quick Thoughts

Most US-based consumers would likely prefer to earn miles from AA or another domestic partner when it’s in the small amounts you usually receive from shopping portals, but that’s not an option with new-ish Apple devices. Not only does the new Flying Blue portal provide you an avenue to do just that, but it also puts those miles into a program that’s a partner of quite literally every transferable currency in the known world. Now that Flying Blue has fixed its formerly ridiculous expiration policy, it’s fairly safe to accumulate miles there, knowing you’ll eventually be able to use them.

While this isn’t earth-shattering, it is a canny antidote to a common frustration we’ve heard from many folks over the years: It’s quite easy to find Apple products on many shopping portals, but hard to earn rewards on the items that you actually want. Not anymore.
