The $50 card offer is marginally profitable before liquidation fees. Those cards carry a $4.95 activation fee, so your profit is a grand total of $0.10. While a dime’s profit isn’t going to have you rushing to the grocery store, if you do your grocery shopping there anyway then it might be worth grabbing a couple of those once you take into account the points you’ll earn when paying with a card that earns more at grocery stores.

Your article about buying gift cards to gross $.10 is really stupid.
The post isn’t about buying gift cards to make $0.10. It’s about buying gift cards to make up to $3.20 and get ~$300 in bonused spend on credit cards to make that even more rewarding. For example, on a new Chase Freedom Unlimited card they’d also earn ~1,500 Ultimate Rewards which many would value at at least $22.50. You’d therefore be making more than $25 for buying some gift cards at a grocery store you’d likely be shopping at already.
