American Airlines is running a pretty good award sale at the moment. You can book flights within the US, as well as to/from Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America for only 9,000 AAdvantage miles one way (plus taxes and fees). You can also book award flights between the US and Europe from only 21,000 miles one way.

Quick Thoughts
9,000 miles is a decent award price for flights to Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. Just be sure to note that valid flight dates are from the start of August through the end of September—prime hurricane season weather.
21,000 miles between the US and Europe also has the potential to be good value. If you’d be booking award flights in both directions, be sure to check out round trip cash pricing though because that can often be reasonable to Europe depending on your origin and destination airports.

Real question: Anything worthwhile in J?
August is pretty wide open (as usual) from JFK to London/Europe for ~67k on AA metal, but the trick is to get a connecting flight through LHR on BA where the JFK-LHR flight is on AA and the LHR-Europe flight is on BA. Can then get some of those priced for the partner 57.5k rate with a reasonable surcharge (coming up as ~$54 or so). Easy choice to pay $50 extra to save ~10k miles and can take the 787P.
