Does the balance in a business account count towards a personal Preferred Rewards tier calculation? Or are they totally separate?

Separate.

Chuck

In case anyone else is curious if you assume this money is sitting in a high yield savings account at 3.5% APY and let’s for teh sake of cleanliness assume it’s going to be out of that for 4 months (time in, out, the 90 days and a bit of slack to be sure).
The Opportunity Cost and net benefit by tier then is:
$5k ($58.59 OC) = $341.41 Return
$15k ($175.77 OC) = $524.23 Return
$50k ($585.89 OC) = $414.11 Return
$100k ($1171.78 OC) = $328.22 Return

So the best return on capital in real dollars not just percent is at the $15k tier. I assumed incorrectly that the best $ return would have been for higher limits and %age return would be lower. Unless I math’d this wrong $15k is the winner @Tim Steinke

I am confused. On the first page of the application, it asks for individual information, asks for my employer, then asks if I’m a “Controlling manager” and then when I say no, it asks for that information.

I haven’t seen this on a business checking account application ever…

You are the controlling manager for your business.

Alex

But usually it asks to about you individually and then your business but I guess I’ll just fill out for my “business” from the start
