Last month, as part of a modest refresh, Chase doubled the yearly hotel credit on the Sapphire Preferred card from $50 to $100, but without raising the $95 annual fee. It appears that Capital One may be mimicking that move on its own $95 card, the Venture Rewards.

We’ve seen reports from Doctor of Credit and our Frequent Miler Insiders Facebook group that at least some current Venture cardholders have received the following email:
Good news, your Venture card now includes an annual $100 stays credit for hotel and vacation rental bookings through Capital One Travel. Your credit will be renewed each year on your cardholder anniversary date with no enrollment needed. It will be ready within 72 hours of this message and can be viewed and applied at checkout.
We haven’t heard anything directly from Capital One, and there’s no mention of a $100 credit in the online benefits list for the Venture card. However, the fact that the email states that the credit will be ready “within 72 hours” leads me to believe that an announcement will likely come early next week.

Quick Thoughts
Like the Sapphire Preferred’s version, the travel credit added to the Venture card is only good for hotels and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Travel. That limits its utility somewhat, given that it eliminates your ability to stack with a shopping portal and earn hotel points or elite credit. However, we’ve found the portal to be relatively decent with pricing, and Nick even had a positive experience with their price match process.
I’m assuming that, like Chase, Capital One won’t be raising the annual fee for the Venture card; this is simply an attempt to keep up with the J.P. Morgans. The cards have different earning structures: the Venture Rewards earns 2x everywhere, while the Sapphire Preferred (CSP) earns 3x on gas, dining, and online grocery, as well as 2x on travel. The Sapphire Preferred also has better rental car and travel protections.
However, 2x everywhere is a terrific rate, and if indeed Capital One is adding the $100 hotel credit without raising the annual fee (and is adding it for all cardholders), it will make for a pretty compelling $95 card, especially for folks looking for simplicity in their wallet.
Just to emphasize, this credit is NOT CURRENTLY LIVE. We expect that to happen sometime next week, so wait until you see it listed in your Capital One Travel account before making a booking.

My credit is active right now. It shows up as a credit in my app and on the website.
Care to share a screenshot for the rest of the class?
Unfortunately, I don’t see any way to post a screenshot, at least not from any of my mobile browsers? I just logged into my account again, through Capital One travel, and it shows on the very top of the banner as a travel credit of $100. When I click on it, it specifically says Venture annual stays credit, $100, expiring in a year.
Ok. You’re the second person I heard this from. This makes me want to go for the card once they have that elevated 75k+ $250 travel credit.
How long have you had the card? Given the extremely spotty distribution of this I’m trying to figure out some patterns. Maybe C1 is giving it as an anniversary bonus?
About 3 years. Not only did the credit show up for me quickly, but I was allowed to pay the remainder of the hotel cost using my venture x card, which gives me 10x points when booking through Capital one’s travel portal instead of the venture’s 5X. That’s a pretty cool perk, unless they didn’t mean to do that. The travel credit was immediately applied to my total balance.
…and actually I just thought of something. I wonder if the $100 travel credit from the venture and the once a year $300 credit from the Venture X stack. My VX credit doesn’t renew until later this year so I can’t verify, but that would be pretty cool.
I was able to purchase a flight with the $250 Venture credit (from the limited-time SUB) and the remainder with the VentureX credit. This was also possible despite having the card set to the VentureX. So I would expect that to be possible.
That said, I try to use as many C1 Travel credits on flights as possible given the lower opportunity cost and ease of verifying that the transaction actually went through.
I hope this $100 hotel credit comes to the Business version of the Venture as well. I assume it will.
Venture Biz already has $100 of credits ($50 for travel and $50 for advertising/software), so I doubt they’ll add any more.
Good point. Bummer though as I’d prefer the hotel credit.
Is there a big difference in the business version? Or big advantage to have the personal versus business?
The big advantage to the business version is that the priority pass membership still allows up to two guests free per lounge visit, while the personal version no longer allows any guests for free.
Great, thank you! I’m having a hard time deciding. I want a Capital One card mainly for the offers. I get a ton of Capital One offers, but it’s shopping cash back. I would prefer it to be points. But I’m 4/24 and can’t get personal. So do we know if the Biz VX gets the C1 point offers like the personal does? If it did, I would apply. I’m also torn on which to get, but I don’t want it to report to personal obviously. So it’s either the X or the regular Venture.
Yes, it gets access to the same C1 Offers as the person one.
Happy to share a referral link if needed
I’m so sorry! I have a friend that got one of those huge referral offers and I told him I would use his. I’m so sorry!
No worries at all!! It never hurts to ask! Enjoy the card and perks!
dizzying amount of credits popping up these days. however I will say it makes the 35k FNC type offerings much less attractive. Being able to just have $100 on many cards and not be brand-specific is awesome
I like having both even better. And if I get this on my Venture it moves up a notch.
We don’t currently have a Marriott with with a 35K FNC, just Marriott Brilliants and IHG cards.
Admittedly, you need to have a desire for an upscale stay to make the Marriott Brilliant into a moneymaker but the IHG is impossible not to come out ahead.
