Chase opens and closes its refer-a-friend program on different cards at different times. It’s currently open for Chase Ink cardholders to refer people for all three varieties of Ink cards which means that you can earn 20,000 Ultimate Rewards in addition to the person you’re referring getting the higher 75,000 or 100,000 bonus point welcome bonuses right now.

The Deal

  • Earn 20,000 Ultimate Rewards points when referring a new person to a Chase Ink card from a Chase Ink card.
  • Direct link to offer.

Key Terms

  • Person referring receives 20,000 Ultimate Rewards points, with a limit of 100,000 points earned via referrals per calendar year.

Quick Thoughts

The particularly great thing about these refer-a-friend offers is that the person being referred will receive a link to the increased offers across the Ink range of cards right now.

The Chase Ink Business Unlimited and Ink Business Cash cards are offering 75,000 Ultimate Rewards when spending $7,500 in the first three months, while the Ink Business Preferred welcome offer gives 100,000 Ultimate Rewards on $15,000 of spend in the first three months.

If you referred a household member, that means you’d earn more than 100,000 Ultimate Rewards combined on the Unlimited and Cash cards once taking into account the points earned from meeting the minimum spend requirement, while you’d have 135,000+ combined points if referring them to the Ink Business Preferred card. That’s a huge haul of points if you both get to benefit from all the points being earned.

What’s even more useful is that if you can refer from any flavor of Ink card to any other Ink card – the person referring doesn’t have to apply for the same variety that you have. That even goes if you only have the old Chase Ink Plus card – you can still refer people to the Ink Business Unlimited, Cash and Preferred cards (although the Ink Plus card is no longer open for applications).

There had been reports earlier this year that Chase had tightened up on approvals for business cards, but that appears to have been loosened in the last few months as there have been numerous data points of people being approved for new business cards since then.

Will old links generated still work? I just referred my spouse (the link still worked) and she applied and was approved. Will I get the 20k referral bonus points?

Tanya

Is that offer still available? I get an error message 🙁

Tanya

Eh, I should have known better and sent a referral link right away.

Adam

I run a couple small businesses. Would I be able to refer myself? The language in my email says “for each business […]”.

I have Ink Cash Business and Ink Plus Business (both with hubby as AU). Chase recently explained that my husband’s AU status will not affect his ability to apply for identical card under his own name (he owns 3% of my business). Their recent email says “earn 20,000 points for each business that gets approved.” Since we both own the same business, will referall bonus come through? Thanks.

Dan

Any idea roughly how long these will last? I have the CIC and want to refer P2 to CIC or CIU but we are currently working on 4 other MS at the moment so wouldn’t be able to swing the elevated MS on this until mid to end of January.

John

Bummer. I wanted to refer my wife when she applied for the increased offer 2 weeks ago but no referrals were available. Do you know if anyone has had any luck asking Chase if they’ll retroactively grant a referral bonus for a recent credit card app? The extra 20k points would’ve been nice.

John

Yeah I doubt they’d match a referral especially if there’s no actual referral to reference, but since it’s a spouse to spouse referral maybe the chances are better. I’ll reach out to Chase and report back in case anyone else is curious.
