Chase launched a new transfer bonus today, with this one awarding a 30% bonus when transferring Ultimate Rewards points to Virgin Atlantic.

Economy saver awards between the US and UK start at 6,000 Virgin points (plus a not insubstantial amount in taxes and fees). With a 30% transfer bonus, that means you’d only need to transfer 5,000 Ultimate Rewards points per person which would then also give you Virgin points left over for future redemptions.
One way premium economy awards are available from 10,500 points; if you already have 100 Virgin points in your account, you’d only need to transfer 8,000 Ultimate Rewards over to have enough for one ticket. If you’re lucky, you can find Upper Class (i.e. business class) tickets for only 35,000 points one way (albeit with very high taxes and fees); that would require only 27,000 Ultimate Rewards transferred with this 30% bonus.
This transfer bonus could also come in handy for other Virgin redemptions like cruises with Virgin Voyages and this all-inclusive stay at Finch Hattons in Kenya. That latter redemption costs 100,000 points per night with a minimum two night stay, with that covering the cost of two people. If transferring Ultimate Rewards points from Chase, you’d only need to redeem 77,000 points per night.
