Some Discover cardholders had their cards migrated to Capital One last week. Along with various new benefits like access to Capital One Offers, they’re now being offered—possibly on a targeted basis—a promotion that’s giving 15% cashback when booking their first stay through Capital One Travel.

For this booking, customers will earn 15% cash back on their booking, instead of their standard rewards earn rate, up to a total earn of $200.
- If booking a package, only the hotel portion of the package booking will qualify for this offer.
- After reaching a total of $200, customers will earn their standard rewards earn rate on the remaining portion of the purchase.
- Rewards earnings will apply to net purchases (purchases minus any credits or returns) only.
- Rewards will not be earned on any travel credits used or any rewards redeemed for the purchase.
- Earned rewards are usually visible online within 10 days, but may take up to 2 statement cycles to post to your account.
- This offer is only available while supplies last and for one booking per account.
- This promotion cannot be retroactively applied to bookings made before the offer starts, and will not be applied to any bookings made after the offer expires.
Quick Thoughts
The promotion dates for this offer are a little confusing. As you can see in the screenshot earlier, it states that it expires on January 23, 2027. However, the terms state that you have to set up online access by October 25, 2026 and then book within 180 days.
Discover cardholders who’ve already had their cards moved over to Capital One now earn 5% cashback on hotels and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Travel. That means that this new promotion is adding an additional 10% cashback to that earning rate. With a limit of $200 cashback, you’ll max this out when spending $1,333.33, with any spend above that amount reverting to the 5% cashback rate.
Do note that this is only eligible on one booking, so if you anticipate booking two or more stays then it’d be worth booking the more expensive one first.
