Earn 10K bonus miles when joining AAdvantage Business with promo code BNS10K

American Airlines is running a new promotion this month to incentivize people to join AAdvantage Business. They’re offering 10,000 bonus miles when using promo code BNS10K when joining, but be aware that there were issues with last month’s promotion as they clawed back everyone’s 25,000 miles and only gave 5,000 miles as a consolation prize.

Quick Thoughts

Last month’s promotion turned out to be unexpectedly generous. That awarded 25,000 bonus miles and initially it seemed like qualifying for the bonus miles would be tricky due to the terms stating—as with this month’s promotion too—that the minimum requirements are five active travelers and $5,000 of program spend.

However, a reader pointed out that those requirements are waived for any Citi American Airlines business cardholders. That meant many people were able to register using last month’s promo code and got the 25,000 bonus miles awarded instantly.

That was awesome, but it didn’t last long. American Airlines ended up clawing back all the 25,000 bonus miles awards that they’d issued instantly, providing 5,000 miles as compensation for affected members which was scant consolation. I’m therefore a little surprised to see American Airlines offering a similar promotion to last month, albeit with a less generous reward, especially as it’s double the amount that they gave as a consolation prize to everyone who experienced a clawback just a few weeks ago.

I suspect that Citi American Airlines business cardholders won’t benefit from waived requirements this month, but perhaps they’ll get lucky. If so, that’ll be an easy 10,000 bonus miles, but I wouldn’t count my chickens given last month’s experience.
