American Airlines is running a limited time promotion that can earn you up to 11X AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points when booking travel packages through AA Vacations.
That could provide some excellent rewards, but those rewards are shared equally among everyone on a booking rather than all being accrued by the primary member.

The Deal
- Earn American Airlines AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points at the following levels based on your elite status level when booking through AA Vacations:
- Member – 5X
- Gold – 7X
- Platinum – 8X
- Platinum Pro – 9X
- Executive Platinum – 11X
- Direct link to offer.
Key Terms
- Customer needs to be an AAdvantage® member.
- Applicable for bookings on aavacations.com only.
- Applicable to all destinations.
- No minimum spend or minimum stay apply.
- To receive offer, purchase a vacation package 7/1/2026 through 9/31/2026. All travel must start after 7/3/2026 and finish by 7/31/2027 for promotion to apply.
- No blackout dates apply.
- No promo code needed.
- Miles and Loyalty Points will be earned based on total package value (excludes taxes, fees or mileage redemption).
- Customers who are included in a Package (with AAdvantage® number added for each customer) at the time of booking will earn AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points based on the AAdvantage® status of the customer with the highest AAdvantage® status to determine the total amount of AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points available for distribution to customers.
- To receive AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points in full, each customer must be an AAdvantage® member at the time of booking. A customer can become an AAdvantage® member for free by registering at aa.com/web/loyalty/profile/enrollment.
- If any customer is not an AAdvantage® member, the calculations above will still be performed but the non-member(s) will not receive their allocation of AAdvantage® miles or Loyalty Points and the AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points that otherwise would have been allocated to such non-member customer(s) will be invalid (i.e., they will not be deposited in or transferable to the account of the Booker or any customer).
- If an AAdvantage® member’s AAdvantage® number is not included in the Package booking, such individual will not be considered an AAdvantage® member for purposes of earning AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points.
- For example: Mileage allocation for a three-customer package totaling 9,000 AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points with only two of the three customers being AAdvantage® members, each AAdvantage® member will receive 3000 AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points, and the third customer will receive nothing.
- Customer must be an AAdvantage® member at the time of booking. Each customer’s AAdvantage® number must be entered at the time of booking. Any customer who is not an AAdvantage® member at the time of booking will not earn AAdvantage® miles or Loyalty Points for the booking.
- Certain airfares are not eligible to earn AAdvantage® miles. Basic Economy fares are not eligible.
- American Airlines Vacations reserves the right to change our mileage accrual plan at any time.
- No cap on miles earned per package.
- Only flights booked within the booking window and with a departure date within the travel window will count towards this promotion; however, any changes made to a booking (except the addition of an AAdvantage® number) made before the departure date will also count toward this promotion.
Quick Thoughts
AA Vacations normally awards 1X mile and Loyalty Point per dollar for those without status and 5X for AAdvantage members with any level of status. This limited time promotion awards 5X for those without status and increases all the way up to 11X for those with Executive Platinum status.
Earning rates of 5X-11X could make it much easier to rack up both redeemable miles for award flights and Loyalty Points towards elite status. However, it’s not necessarily quite as generous as you might be imagining.
On the one hand, it is very generous. The number of miles and Loyalty Points earned are calculated based on the highest elite status level that anyone on the booking holds. That means that if one person has, say, Executive Platinum status but no one else traveling with them has status, all those other people’s earnings benefit from the 11X earning rate.
However, the downside for many people will be that the AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points then get divvied up equally among all the people who are booked as part of the package. Let’s say a family of four spends $5,000 on a package and one of the people traveling has Executive Platinum status. That means they’d earn at an 11X rate, so 55,000 miles and 55,000 Loyalty Points. I imagine that many people would prefer to have all those miles and Loyalty Points accrue to the person who has status seeing as they’re likely the one who’s shooting for status and who has the most miles already. In this scenario though, the 55,000 miles and Loyalty Points would be shared equally among all four people on that booking, so 13,750 each.
It’ll be worth ensuring that everyone on a booking has an AAdvantage account, otherwise their share of miles and Loyalty Points will go to waste.

Several years ago, I used to book through AA vacations. I’d book business class and then book the cheapest hotel for the minimum number of nights possible and never show up at the hotel. I had a couple trips where I paid 50% compared to what AA would’ve charged for the flight alone on the main website. Recently, though I’ve noticed that trying this trick yields costs that are slightly above what the airfare is alone so they’ve caught on. All three travelers in my group have EXP status which already earns the 11 multiples so unfortunately this is a pass for me.
