Late last year, Capital One Shopping and Capital One Offers started offering rewards when booking World of Hyatt stays. They were subsequently joined by a few other shopping portals—including Rakuten—with targeted rates of up to 15% becoming available.
That was big news because Hyatt had never appeared on shopping portals before, but it was sadly a short-lived development because just weeks later it disappeared off portals as abruptly as it had first appeared.
Well, there’s good news on that front. World of Hyatt is back on Capital One Shopping and Capital One Offers.

Quick Thoughts
I’m only seeing a rate of 0.5% cashback on Capital One Shopping, while Capital One Offers is showing up as 2X miles for me. Neither of those rates are mind-blowing, but it’s better than nothing at all if you need to book paid Hyatt stays.
As a reminder, Capital One Shopping is a shopping portal that’s open to everyone. You earn cashback, but it can only be redeemed for select gift card brands.
Capital One Offers on the other hand is a shopping portal that’s only for Capital One cardholders. If you have Capital One cards that only offer cashback, you’ll earn the rewards as cashback; that’s pure cashback rather than cashback that must be redeemed for gift cards. If you have Capital One cards that earn miles, you’ll earn the rewards as miles.
No matter which of these you use, the fact that they’re shopping portals and that you’ll be booking directly with Hyatt means that you’re not giving anything up by earning these additional rewards. You’ll still earn World of Hyatt points on the stay, you’ll still earn elite night credits towards Milestone Rewards and elite status, and you’ll still be eligible for elite status benefits during your stay.
If clicking through from Capital One Offers, you don’t have to pay with a Capital One credit card. You can instead pay with a Hyatt credit card or any other card that offers bonus points on hotel stays.
Hopefully the addition of World of Hyatt on these two portals means that it’ll also start showing up on other shopping portals soon too. Note that some portals do list World of Hyatt, but those—at this point in time—are only eligible for purchases of Hyatt points, not for stays.
Also keep an eye out on your emails as you might start getting targeted emails from Capital One Shopping that offer far in excess of a meagre 0.5% cashback rate.
