Hyatt / Under Canvas promos: Get 15% points rebate on award stays and/or 1X American Airlines mile per $1

World of Hyatt has a few different promotions running at the moment when booking stays at its Under Canvas glamping brand. In the past we’ve covered the offer that’s awarding 2K bonus points per night, but there are now two more offers. One is giving a 15% points rebate on award stays, while the other awards 1 American Airlines AAdvantage mile for every $1 you spend on Under Canvas stays.

  • You must register and then book between Wednesday, June 17th, 2026 and Monday, November 30th, 2026 to be eligible.
  • Only World of Hyatt points redeemed for stays completed after registration and between Thursday, June 18th, 2026 to Tuesday, December 1st, 2026 (Promotion Period”) at participating Under Canvas properties will be eligible for this promotion.
  • You will receive 15% Bonus Points back on the World of Hyatt points redeemed for all eligible stays at participating Under Canvas properties booked on Hyatt channels and completed during the Promotion Period.

• 1X AAdvantage miles promo:
  • You must be a World of Hyatt member, an AAdvantage member, and register for the promotion between June 4, 2026 and September 12, 2026 to participate.
  • Promotion valid on Eligible Stays completed between June 5, 2026 and September 13, 2026 (“Promotion Period”) at participating Under Canvas properties booked through Hyatt channels.
  • Member must enter a valid AAdvantage number at time of registration and pay an Eligible Rate.
  • Beginning on their first Eligible Stay after registration and during the Promotion Period, members can earn one (1) AAdvantage bonus mile for every eligible U.S. Dollar spent per Eligible Stay completed during the Promotion Period. This is in addition to the five (5) World of Hyatt Base Points members would earn as their base earning.
  • For the purpose of this promotion, an “Eligible Stay” is defined as any stay where a member is paying an Eligible Rate or redeems a free night award at a participating Under Canvas property.
  • Only the room occupied by the member will count toward this promotion.
  • You must provide your World of Hyatt membership number at the time of booking for your stay to be eligible.
  • Please allow 3 to 4 weeks after check-out for World of Hyatt Points to be posted to your World of Hyatt account and AAdvantage bonus miles to be posted to your AAdvantage account.

Quick Thoughts

The 15% points rebate offer is a little more interesting than I’d been anticipating. I’ve generally ignored looking at award bookings for Under Canvas stays because the redemption value is usually pretty poor as these locations fall under the Mr & Mrs Smith brand which doesn’t follow Hyatt’s (now very expansive) award chart pricing.

Nonetheless, I did a search for an Under Canvas Grand Canyon stay in mid-September and this was the award pricing:

When changing those same dates to cash pricing, these were the results:

That doesn’t tell the full story though. For starters, taxes aren’t included in the rates above, so the all-in rate for a Safari Tent would be $210.61 per night for those dates. That’s based on a non-refundable rate though; if you picked the alternative rate which has the same cancellation policy as an award stays (n.b. it’s a strict 30 days before your stay cancellation policy), the nightly price for a Safari Tent including tax would be $234.01 per night.

The award pricing displayed in the first screenshot is also the full award price. For a stay costing 16,750 points per night, you’d get a rebate of 2,512.5 points per night thanks to the 15% rebate promotion.

That means that the directly comparable rates are $234.01 for a cash stay or 14,237.50 points per night for an award stay (you’d obviously not get half a point back; I’m not sure if Hyatt rounds up or down). That means that with the 15% points rebate accounted for, you’d be getting 1.64 cents per point of value which is far better than normal for Under Canvas and solid value overall considering Hyatt’s new award chart.

If you’ll be booking a paid stay instead, registering for the American Airlines promotion is a no-brainer as you’ll earn bonus miles based on the cost of your stay; that’s in addition to the World of Hyatt points you’ll earn. That said, it’s also worth registering for the AA promo even if you’re booking an award stay. That’s because you should earn AAdvantage miles for any incidental spending charged to your room tent during your stay.

If you’ll be staying before the end of July, you can also stack these Under Canvas promotions with two other promotions. There’s this promotion that’s awarding 2K bonus points per night from your second stay at all of Hyatt’s brands, as well as this promotion awarding 2K bonus points per night which is specifically for stays at the Under Canvas brand only. Both paid stays and award stays count for these two other offers. You can also pay for the stay and/or any incidental charges with a Hyatt credit card to earn 11X additional bonus points courtesy of this cardholder promotion.
