The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is now once again out with an offer to earn 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points after spending $5,000 in the first three months. This marks a return to the best-ever offer on this card, and it comes alongside a complete refresh. The card now offers new bonus categories: 3X on gas and EV charging, and 3X on select vacation home brands, as well as other popular existing bonus categories like 2X on all travel. The annual hotel credit has also been bumped up to $100 back each year when you make a prepaid hotel booking of $100 or more through Chase Travel. If you’ve been thinking about this card but haven’t gotten it yet, now is probably the time.

Quick Thoughts
The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card has long been widely regarded as one of the best starter travel rewards credit cards in the hobby. That’s because of the flat 2x it offers on all travel, excellent travel protections, and a couple of other useful bonus categories.
The card has now been refreshed by bumping up its annual hotel credit, adding a credit for Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or Nexus, and adding a couple of useful new bonus categories (read Greg’s take on those changes here). That’s all great news, and I think it will make this card a fantastic fit for most newcomers to this hobby (and still an excellent fit for many long-term rewards credit card enthusiasts).
The biggest negative change with today’s refresh is that transfers from Chase Ultimate Rewards to World of Hyatt are now 4:3 for new Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders (down from 1:1), so you’ll need to transfer 4 Ultimate Rewards points to get 3 World of Hyatt points. This new transfer ratio applies to those who apply starting today (6/15/26). Those who had their cards open prior to June 15, 2026, will maintain a 1:1 transfer ratio until October 1, 2026, when the transfer ratio will become 4:3 for all Sapphire Preferred cardholders.
Overall, the Chase Sapphire Preferred remains a great card for the $95 annual fee price tag. It has been more than a year since we last saw this card offer 100,000 points, so if you’ve been interested in the Sapphire Preferred, now is probably a great time to consider it. I should add that we did see a very brief window last year where it was possible to earn additional bonus points from Rakuten by clicking through to apply for the Sapphire Preferred card. That offer expired a long time ago and only lasted a couple of days, but if you’re still on the fence about this card, you might want to keep an eye out for anything like that coming back.

I just got the Sapphire Preferred even though I had it 5 years ago!

With the sign up bonus? My wife just applied for this card — honestly, we can’t remember if she ever had one in the past 17 years. She filled out the online application and the Chase pop-up said she was ineligible for the bonus. So she terminated the application.
Although I have the CSR card and am under 5/24, I was also approved for the CSP card last week. I did not know that CSR cardholders were considered ineligible (I couldn’t find this in the CSP offer’s T&Cs), so I applied and received a fraud alert from Chase asking me to call in to verify if it was me who was applying. I called in and the rep verified my identify and approved my application. Today I received an email confirmation of approval from Chase and added the card to my Apple Wallet. I will receive the physical card in about a week. Have any other CSR cardholders also been approved for this CSP card offer?

Tried to generate my referral link but said it’s not available. Has any one been able to generate the referral link?
Now that Chase has lifetime limits on UR cards, will a referrer receive a referral bonus if the referee gets the card but is ineligible for a SUB?
