Every quarter, Southwest cardholders are targeted with a spending offer that awards 2X Companion Pass qualifying points in a certain category. We’re almost a month into Q3 and details of this quarter’s offer are finally available: you’ll earn 2X on hotel and lodging purchases, up to 10,000 total points.

- To be eligible for this bonus Companion Pass qualifying points offer, you must register between July 1 and September 30, 2026 (“Promotion Period”).
- During the Promotion Period, you will earn 2 Companion Pass qualifying points for every $1 in qualifying hotels and lodging purchases made with your Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card, up to 10,000 bonus points.
- So long as you register within the Promotion Period, qualifying purchases made between July 1 and September 30, 2026 will be eligible for the promotion.
- Companion Pass qualifying points are not eligible to use for redemption toward flights or with More Rewards.
- This bonus offer is nontransferable and applies only to Cardmembers who receive marketing communications for this offer.
- Please allow up to 6 to 8 weeks after the end of the Promotion Period for the bonus Companion Pass qualifying points to post to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account.
- Bonus Companion Pass qualifying points will post directly to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account and will not appear on your credit card statement.
- To qualify for this bonus offer, your Rapid Rewards Credit Card account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment.
- Merchants in this category include hotels and motels, and many smaller establishments like bed & breakfasts, and inns.
- Hotel accommodations not booked directly with the hotel will not qualify; for example, hotel accommodations purchased through travel agencies, discount travel sites, vacation clubs, tour operators, or as part of a package offered by merchants such as cruise lines and railways.
- Rewards will not be earned until charges are posted to your account.
- Purchases other than your room bill on the hotel premises will not be included in the category unless they classify as a hotel merchant, for example, restaurant or entertainment purchases. In addition, the purchasing of hotel points will not qualify in this category.
Quick Thoughts
Despite it taking almost a month to be able to register for this spending offer, if you’ve already used your Southwest card to make hotel or lodging purchases this month, that spending will still earn 2X Companion Pass qualifying points provided you register for the offer by September 30.
I’m not 100% sure what the spending limit is for this offer. It states that you’ll earn 2X Companion Pass qualifying points and that there’s a limit of 10,000 bonus qualifying points. However, you earn 1X as standard, so I’m not sure if the 10,000 limit includes the normal 1X or not. If it does include that 1X, you’ll max this out when spending $5,000 on hotels and lodging; if it doesn’t include that 1X, you’ll max it out with $10,000 spend.

If you see a yellow ‘Register Now’ button, you’ll be eligible for the offer and can register for it. If you see details of the offer after logging in but no registration button, it means you’re not targeted.
Note that the 2X points you’ll earn are only Companion Pass qualifying points—they’re not redeemable Rapid Rewards points.
