Southwest promo: Earn A-List status + 20K bonus points when booking via SWABIZ

Southwest has opened registration for a new promotion that’s offering the opportunity to earn A-List status with qualifying flights, as well as 20,000 bonus Rapid Rewards points.

The Deal

• Book qualifying flights through SWABIZ or a similar program & get the following:
  • Book & fly 2 round trip flights (or 4 qualifying one way flights) & earn promotional A-List status that’s valid through December 31, 2026
  • Book & fly 4 round trip flights (or 8 qualifying one way flights) & earn promotional A-List status that’s valid through December 31, 2026 as well as 20,000 bonus Rapid Rewards points

Key Terms

• Rapid Rewards Members (“Member”) can earn promotional A-List status valid through 12/31/2026 and Rapid Rewards bonus points when registering, booking in Eligible Distribution Channels, and flying qualifying flights for this Promotion between 7/28/2026 and 10/31/2026 (the “Promotion Period”).

• Member may earn up to a maximum of 20,000 Rapid Rewards bonus points through this Promotion.
• Member’s qualifying flights must be either a Basic, Choice, Choice Preferred, or Choice Extra fare product.
• Offer valid on new reservations booked and flown within the Promotion Period only.
• A qualifying round trip flight is a round trip flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city and back to the originating airport or carrier-recognized co-terminal, and a qualifying one-way flight is a one-way flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city.
• For purposes of this Promotion, a qualifying flight must be a flight operated by Southwest Airlines and paid with dollars, Southwest LUV Vouchers, gift cards, or flight credits, and those paid with Cash + Points.
• Qualifying flights exclude reward flights, charter flights, nonrevenue travel, Getaways by Southwest vacation bookings, and Companion Pass travel.
• Travel booked or flown prior to Member’s registration for this Promotion is not considered a qualifying flight for this Promotion.
• Rapid Rewards bonus points earned through this Promotion are in addition to the regular Rapid Rewards points earned through Rapid Rewards.
• Changes made to the itinerary after purchase may eliminate qualification for this Promotion.
• This Promotion cannot be combined with any other promotional offer.
• Current A-List Preferred status Members whose status is expiring during the Promotion Period are not eligible to earn promotional A-List status under this Promotion unless such Member flies at least two (2) qualifying round trip flights (or four (4) qualifying one-way flights) after their A-List Preferred status has expired during the Promotion Period.
• Current A-List status Members whose status is expiring during the Promotion Period are eligible to earn promotional A-List status under this Promotion, and the promotional A-List status earned under this Promotion will supersede and replace Member’s existing A-List status if such status has not yet expired.
• If Member qualifies for promotional A-List status during the Promotion Period, then Member will not receive an A-List card, but Member will receive all A-List status benefits on all flights booked after being awarded promotional A-List status, when Member provides their Rewards account number when making their reservation.
• If regular A-List status is earned by Member by flying 20 qualifying one-way flights or earning 35,000 tier qualifying points in the 2026 calendar year while qualified for promotional A-List status, the regular A-List status will supersede the promotional A-List status, entitling the Member to A-List status through December 31, 2027.

Quick Thoughts

Southwest A-List status usually requires taking 20 one way flights or by earning 35,000 tier qualifying points. This promotion slashes the flight requirement by 80% seeing as you only need to take 4 one way (or 2 round trip) flights in order to get A-List status. That makes it much easier to achieve, although do note that the status earned via this promotion expires at the end of 2026, whereas A-List status earned in the conventional way would be valid through the end of 2027.

If you take 8 one way flights (or 4 round trips), you’ll get an additional 20,000 bonus Rapid Rewards points. It’s unlikely that that’ll make it worth a mileage run unless you only need one (or maybe two) further one way flights after the rest of your travel, but it’s a very good reward nonetheless.

Something important to be aware of is that the flights have to be booked via SWABIZ, GDS, or another qualifying partner that can book business flights. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter if you’re actually flying for business, plus my understanding is that SWABIZ fares match those you’ll find on Southwest.com, so it’s not like you’re being forced to pay a higher fare in order to take advantage of this promotion.

Nick reminded me that if you’re not currently registered for SWABIZ, it’s worth having your partner (if you have one) refer you. That’s because if you refer someone for SWABIZ and they register and complete 1 round trip or 2 one way flights within 90 days, the person referring the business gets 25,000 bonus Rapid Rewards points.

Also be aware that flights booked entirely with Rapid Rewards points aren’t eligible, nor are flights where a Companion Pass is being used if you’re the companion. If you’re the person with a Companion Pass and you’re traveling with your Companion, you’ll still be eligible if you’ve paid a cash fare or a fare with Cash + Points. You also have to register before booking qualifying flights and those flights have to be completed by October 31, 2026. Even if you have flights booked via SWABIZ that’ll take place during the promotion period, those won’t count if they were booked before registering for this promo.

This is likely a targeted promotion. When trying to register for it, you’ll need to be logged in to your Rapid Rewards account. After logging in and visiting the registration page, you should see a yellow ‘Register Now’ button. If you do, you’re targeted. If you don’t see that button, that unfortunately means you’re not eligible for this offer.

Depending on any elite status you currently hold with other airlines and your upcoming travel plans, it might make sense to utilize Southwest’s status match feature instead. Even if you have low level status with other domestic airlines, you can match to A-List status for 120 days and extend that for an additional 12 months if, during those 120 days, you fly 3 round trips or 6 one way flights. Those are slightly higher requirements than this limited time promotion, but the status match avenue gives you 120 days to complete the requirements—more than the ~90 days from this offer. Status matching doesn’t award 20,000 bonus points though.
