Some Alaska Airlines elite members are receiving a targeted email offer on the Alaska Airlines Visa Credit Card that’s good for a total of 100,000 bonus miles, though it requires a lot of spend to trigger the bulk of the miles.
The Offer
- There is a targeted email going out to some Alaska Mileage Plan elite members with a 100K mile offer on the Alaska Airlines Visa Credit Card that is structured as follows:
- Get 40,000 bonus miles after spending $2,000 or more within the first 90 days
- Get 60,000 bonus miles after spending $15,000 or more total within the first 270 days (9 months)
- This offer still includes the $99 companion fare in the first year (from $121 with taxes)

Quick Thoughts
This could be a fantastic deal if you’re able to meet the spend and lock down a valuable award relatively soon. Ordinarily, I’d be very excited about a 100K Alaska offer considering current sweet spots like Cathay Pacific business class to Asia for 50K miles each way or Fiji Airways business class to Australia or New Zealand with a stop in Fiji for 55K miles each way. However, I am a bit less enthusiastic at the moment given that Alaska has said that oneworld bookings would begin in summer 2021. Summer is upon us and we have not yet had any indication as to what a new award chart will look like (indeed, the only news so far on that front is that they are cutting ties with Emirates on July 1st, which would make me wonder if we might see a new award chart somewhere around that date). I’d be somewhat wary of investing $15K spend in an offer knowing that the award chart will likely change before I receive the miles but not knowing what that chart will look like. On the other hand, I think it is reasonable to be confident that Alaska will still have some sweet spots and 100K miles will likely be enough to take advantage of some of them. I would be surprised if their award chart comes out much worse than American’s chart, so 100K miles should still be a solid offer and I can’t see the offer going much higher.
