Capital One Shopping has some extremely generous spending offers at the moment when visiting the home page on desktop. Some people are getting an offer giving $100 cashback on a $100+ hotel or vacation rental booking, while others are getting an offer for $100 cashback when spending $100+ on event tickets.

Quick Thoughts
Both of these are extremely generous offers, especially if you can find a hotel stay or event tickets that cost just over $100 before taxes and fees.
Note that for the hotel/vacation rental offer, you have to book through the Hotels Price Comparison Portal from Capital One Shopping; you can’t just click through to, say, Hotels.com and book a $100+ hotel stay and have that count. Similarly for the event tickets offer if you’re targeted, you have to book through Capital One Shopping’s event ticket deals page, not by clicking through to a site like StubHub or Ticketmaster.
It seems like these offers are appearing on the home page of the Capital One Shopping website on both desktop and mobile, but aren’t showing up in the Capital One Shopping app.
As a reminder, the $100 cashback you’ll earn isn’t pure cashback in that you can’t redeem it via ACH, PayPal, etc. Instead, you have to redeem for a selection of third party gift cards, the list of which is also targeted. That makes it worth less than $100 of regular cashback, but these are still excellent deals nonetheless.

I’m having a really hard time getting this to work…I’ve booked and canceled four times now, removed all other shopping pop-ups, made sure all guidelines are followed…and the damn thing just won’t track.

Are the cashback gift cards electronic or physical? (makes a difference if one is slow-traveling and thus not around for the latter)
They are instant electronic.
Not every stay is giving a 100 USD discount, when I click the link to the offer on capital one shopping and search for hotels, most of them show up for me with the offer ” Spend 100 USD, get 80 USD in rewards”.
Mine says “up to $100″ and when I click on the link, at the cap one hotel page, at the top it says ” Earn up to $100 when you book a hotel or vacation rental over $100!” with a small “i” information link that does not work. I am wondering if you they updated the offer so that you have to spend a lot more than $100 to get $100 back?
The redemption gift card options are targeted? Why!? Sorry, I know you can’t answer that. Just venting in frustration from not seeing my beloved Home Depot or Lowe’s cards in ages.
