We noticed yesterday that the landing page for the U.S. Bank Shopper Cash Rewards card was redirecting to the main credit card page for the bank. That made it look like they’d deliberately removed the card for new applications, but sometimes banks take cards down temporarily while doing some kind of refresh.
We reached out to a contact at U.S. Bank and they’ve confirmed that they’re no longer accepting applications for the card.
This card was of interest for some people due to its earning categories. It awarded 6% on the first $1,500 in purchases each quarter with two retailers you choose, 3% on the first $1,500 in purchases per quarter on one everyday category (like wholesale clubs, gas and EV charging stations, bills, and utilities), and 1.5% everywhere else.
If you maxed out those bonused spending categories each quarter, you’d earn $540 per year. One reason the card didn’t have quite as much widespread appeal is that it had a $95 annual fee, so your net maximum earning (based on 6% and 3% categories only) was $445 per year.
Although the U.S. Bank Shopper Cash Rewards card is no longer available for new applications, we did receive confirmation that existing cardholders will have the card maintained.

BTW, all Kroger family of cards was discontinued recently, not sure if you wrote about it.
I think when US Bank first released this card they didn’t allow product changing to it. I tried to convert a US Bank cash plus card to the shopper card and was told that was not possible.
I was offered this card as a conversion option from USBAR or USBAG they even offered first year free.
That is good to know. I still have my US Bank Altitude Reserve and converted my US Bank Altitude Go to a US Bank Smartly card a year ago.
