The United shopping portal launched a new promotion this week offering up to 1,000 bonus MileagePlus miles.
The Deal
- The United shopping portal is offering the following promotion:
- Spend $125 & earn 500 bonus miles, or
- Spend $300 & earn 1,000 bonus miles

Key Terms
- During the “Summer Bonus” offer, which runs from 6/21/21 through 7/4/21 at 11:59:59 pm ET (the “Bonus Period”), Member will earn a one-time bonus of up to 1,000 MileagePlus bonus award miles on qualifying purchases made through the MileagePlus Shopping mall or from purchases made through MileagePlus Shopping in-store offers.
- This one-time bonus award will be based on Member’s cumulative qualifying purchases made during the Bonus Period using one of the following tiers: Tier 1 bonus: 500 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $125; or Tier 2 bonus: 1,000 miles for qualifying purchases of $300 or more.
- “Qualifying purchases” do not include returns, cancellations, shipping and handling, taxes, gift card or other cash equivalent purchases, and certain products that are not eligible for bonus miles.

- Please allow up to 6-8 weeks after the Bonus Period for bonus award miles to post to your MileagePlus Shopping account.
- The Tier 2 bonus provides the maximum number of miles that will be awarded.
Quick Thoughts
The Alaska Airlines shopping portal is currently offering 500 bonus miles when spending $200. While the miles-per-dollar ratio isn’t as good as this United deal, Alaska Airlines miles are generally far more valuable than United’s. If you’ll be spending $200 today, it might therefore be worth focusing on the Alaska portal bonus first as that ends tonight. This United bonus will be around through July 4, so that gives you much more time to max it out if you want to.
Something that’s useful is that the United portal (and the Alaska portal for that matter) have an in-store card-linked program. That means you can earn bonus miles when spending in-store at eligible retailers, not only online.
