IHG One Rewards targeted some members this past week with a promotion offering double elite night credits on their next two stays by the end of the year. In addition to being useful for those trying to earn or maintain status, it could help you earn more Milestone Rewards.

- The “Up to 14 Bonus Elite Night Credits” promotional offer (the “Offer”) provides you with an opportunity to earn one “Bonus Elite Night Credit” for each Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stay during the Offer Period, up to a maximum of seven (7) Bonus Elite Night Credits per stay following registration, on your next two qualifying stay(s).
- For each “Bonus Elite Night Credit” you earn under the Offer, you will be credited with an additional Elite Qualifying Night for purposes of determining Elite membership status and Milestone Rewards earned under the IHG One Rewards program in 2024.
- “Bonus Elite Night Credits” do not qualify as Rollover Nights or as Qualifying Nights for any other purpose or benefit under the IHG One Rewards program.
- To participate in this Offer, you must be an IHG One Rewards member and must be invited to participate. After receiving an invitation, you must register your member number in advance in order to be eligible for the Offer.
- Members can pre-register for this Promotion between September 16 and September 30, 2024 (the ‘Pre-Registration Period’). The “Offer Period” is from October 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024.
- Members who did not register during the Pre-Registration Period may register for the Promotion during the Offer Period. A member can only register once. The member must register before completing any stays during the Offer Period in order for them to count towards the Offer. By registering for the Offer, a member is accepting these Terms and Conditions.
- After registering, a member can earn up to a maximum of fourteen Bonus Elite Night Credits under this Offer, as follows: one (1) Bonus Elite Night Credit will be awarded to the member’s IHG One Rewards account after a Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stay during the Offer Period up to a maximum of seven (7) Bonus Elite Night Credits per qualifying stay following registration, on your next two stay(s).
- Room nights outside of the Offer Period are not included, and room nights that are part of a stay that was completed prior to registration for the Offer also are not included.
- For purposes of this Offer, a “Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stay” is defined as a minimum one (1) night stay at a participating hotel booked under a Qualifying Rate, with a total spend exceeding $30 USD (or local equivalent) per night and a check-out date within 45 days following the conclusion of the Offer Period.
- Participating hotels include all IHG Hotels & Resorts, with the exception of those Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas and Iberostar Beachfront Resorts that do not participate in the IHG One Rewards program.
- Stays booked using Reward Nights or Points & Cash are not Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stays for purposes of this Offer. Bookings made through on-line travel agencies or other reservation sites such as booking.com or expedia.com also do not qualify under this Offer.
- If more than one member who registered for the Offer checks into the same room, only one member is eligible to earn Bonus Elite Night Credits under this Offer based on those nights that qualify.
- If a member books more than one room on the same night, the member will only receive credit towards this Offer for only one of the rooms that also meets the requirements of a Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stay.
- If a member has consecutive reservations through the same property, each reservation will count as one stay if it meets the requirements for a Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stay.
Quick Thoughts
There’s a limit of 14 bonus elite night credits up for grabs with this targeted offer, but note that there’s a limit of 7 bonus elite nights per stay, with a limit of two stays. Also note that this promotion is only valid on paid stays, not those booked with free night certificates, points or Points & Cash.
This could be a useful offer for someone trying to maintain status or earn a higher level of status. For example, if you’re currently on course for earning 42 elite night credits with IHG, registering for this promotion and booking two week-long paid stays would earn you a total of 28 elite night credits, putting you at a total of 70 – enough for the top tier Diamond status.
Even if this promo won’t help you earn or maintain status, it has the potential to be rewarding nonetheless. That’s because the bonus elite night credits will also count towards Milestone Rewards requirements. Milestone Rewards start at only 20 nights, with the 40 elite night level giving the opportunity to select, among other options, a confirmable suite upgrade and an annual lounge membership.

Hey Stephen, do you know any details about the $30 minimum per night language? There’s a HIX near me that is around $28 pre-tax, and around $35 after tax, per night. Do you think this might be considered ineligible?
I think the room rate has to be $30 per night. Does that property have an option for a slightly more expensive rate – maybe something like a double points rate or something like that? I’d assume that kind of rate would work, but I can’t guarantee it.
That’s what I thought. I just checked and “thankfully”, maybe due to the weakened dollar, the room rate is around $34 before tax for October. If it gets too cheap there’s a “refundable” rate too. Thanks, Stephen.
