As noted above, some stores will be at increased rates all week, but others are valid for a limited-time only. One that stands out today (Wednesday, May 9th) is Staples.com. Getting 15% back at Staples is a rare opportunity. As you can see via the CashBackMonitor 15-month historical chart, the payout has only reached this level one time in the past 15 months (one year ago — May 8-9, 2017).
Since you could shop through a portal and use a card like the Chase Ink Cash to pay, you could earn 5x Ultimate Rewards points on top of 15% back. If you value Ultimate Rewards over a penny each, your net return at Staples makes this a great deal. Anyone know if shopping at staples.com for gift cards using Ink and/or Simply Cash will work to get the 5 times or 5% cash back?
Anything you buy at Staples with those cards should get you 5%/5x back with those cards (including gift cards). I’m not aware of any data points to the contrary (I usually use an Ink Plus and I’ve never not gotten the points from the CC).
Whether or not you get the 15% back from Ebates is more variable. See the Laboratory for results on specific types of cards.
