While 10% cashback at Discover ended yesterday, Upromise has increased their rate to 10% through 9/5. Additionally, holders of their co-branded credit card will also earn an additional 10% for paying with the card through the portal at Sears.

Key Terms
  • Earn 10% cash back for college (was 5%) at Sears.com thru 9/5.
  • Offers are subject to change at any time without notice.
  • Earn an additional 10% cash back for college when you use the Upromise MasterCard® only on eligible online purchases.
  • Contributions are not available on purchases made on Sears auctions or any licensed partners (including Kmart).

As of this time Upromise doesn’t include any language excluding gift cards, although they may just be slow to update their terms. If you do plan to purchase gift cards through Upromise, it is always a good idea to use caution and to document everything.

FAQ:
Do all purchases qualify for cash back? Are there any restrictions?
You will receive cash back from contributing companies based on the price of eligible goods and services purchased, generally excluding tax, shipping, and handling. In general, cash back will not be made for any portion of your purchase paid for with coupons, store credit, online currency, or gift certificates. For a company’s specific cash back restrictions, please refer to that company’s program details. In addition, cash back is not provided for the following types of purchases:

Gift certificates;
Prescriptions from contributing companies (due to federal and state laws and regulations);
Regular monthly deliveries;
Purchases made with third-party partners or subsidiaries of a Upromise contributing company not covered under our agreement with them.
