Last month, Nick wrote a post highlighting a great deal on nonstop round trip flights between San Francisco and Tahiti. Those flights only cost $622 and we thought at the time that the deal would be short-lived.

Not only have select flights continued to be available at that low price over the following weeks, but some dates are now available for just $550 or less.

The Deal

Quick Thoughts

Google Flights is a good option to use to search for dates and prices. When looking for a seven day round trip, there are several dates available from November through to the end of March. Have a play around with the dates though as that same rate is available for shorter and longer stays than seven nights. There’s even some good availability over Valentine’s Day if you wanted a special getaway (albeit in Economy).

That broad overview lists the lowest price as $553. However, selecting the nonstop United flights shows the final price as $551. Google Flights actually lists two prices – $551 when booking the tickets separately, or $631 when booking the flights in a single reservation.

United SFO-PPT $551 or $631

Needless to say, it makes sense booking the flights as two one-ways seeing as you’ll be saving $80 per person. When clicking through to United to do that, the final price comes to $549.93.

Momondo has these flights slightly cheaper at only $534 round trip, but that’s booking with JustAirTicket, so it might be worth paying the extra $16 and booking directly with United.

Now, these flights are in Economy which might kill the deal for many of you seeing as the flights are around eight hours each way. However, business class award flights to Tahiti can be hard to come by as Nick explained recently, so these cheap paid flights could be worth considering if you’re planning a trip in that direction.

It’s hard to know how long these low fares will stick around seeing as some of the $622 fares had been bookable for at least seven weeks. Having said that, I can’t imagine $550 fares will last too long but I’d love to be proven wrong.
