Just a quick post to note that GiftCards.com is back up to 3 miles per dollar spent via popular airline shopping portals. That’s typically most exciting for American Airlines AAdvantage members since purchases earn both redeemable milesĀ and Loyalty Points at 3x.
The Deal
- GiftCards.com is back up to 3 miles per dollar spent on popular airline shopping portals like AAdvantage eShopping, United MileagePlus Shopping, Alaska Mileage Plan Shopping, and Southwest Rapid Rewards Shopping
Key Terms
- Note that portal terms generally indicate that orders over $2,000are not eligible for rewards, though some may indicate a cap of $2,000 in total monthly purchases.
Quick Thoughts
I’ve had an offer for 10% back from Capital One Shopping for the past several days, so while I’ve ordered from GiftCards dot com, I’ve gone through Capital One Shopping instead of an airline portal. However, if I were chasing American Airlines elite status and I were close to an important threshold, I could potentially see the tradeoff being worth it, albeit certainly at some cost.
Can this be used for multiple shopping “trips” Like if I spend $1,500 in one trip, can I click the link again and spend another $1,500 and be credited 3x points for all $3000?
The Southwest language states, “Orders over $2,000.00 are not eligible.”
A key way to maximize this benefit is to first buy GiftCards.com egifts for the amount your planning to purchase in actual GC’s, then turn around and start a new shopping trip and use the egifts.
Will an order of $2k post? Or does it have to be under $2k? How about if the subtotal is $2k, but there is the 10% discount bringing the order total to $1800?
I don’t think subtotal matters. 2K on the button should work based on my experience.
I’m a big fan of this.
I buy the virtual Visa and MC cards. Then I use them to purchase my virtual Costco cash cards.
In theory, you could get AA EP status and 200,000 FF Miles with just $50K spend (or less, assuming that you buy using an affiliated AA Credit Card and get the Loyalty Point bonus multipliers for achieving certain levels of LP’s.)
But, it’s never that easy. That is a LOT of chicken and hot dogs @ $4.99 and $1.50 a pop! š
Can you make multiple purchases as long as each is under $2k?
I recall in the past sites limited Giftcards.com to something like $2k over a 30 day period, but perhaps I’m mixing that limitation up with other vendors.
If you activate the offer and look at the terms, they only say that it must be under $2K and that you must complete the transaction in the same browser window in which you start.
And… you prolly want to turn off AdBlock Plus or comparable ad blockers while doing the transaction.
Great news for those chasing LPs. Wish I had another Chase card with the 5% back!
which chase card had 5% back??
Most of them. We got the offer on 11 cards.
