If you’ve been following our Million Mile Madness 2024, you know that we’ve been asking for your help in crafting our itineraries as Greg, Stephen and I (Nick) compete to create an itinerary that earns one million miles in a week or two and has the most “SAS” (see here for more detail). We’ve mentioned that there’s going to be some awesome stuff up for grabs for the most helpful readers and we’re now ready to share what the most helpful readers have the opportunity to get: enough miles for business class to Europe and certificates to cover five free Hilton hotel nights! Read on for more detail.
The three most helpful readers will each get 100,000 miles!*
As outlined in our previous posts about this challenge, at the end of the challenge (the competition officially ends after travel is completed and once all 3 competitors have received confirmation that they have earned the 1M SAS miles or have confirmed that they are not eligible for the prize), each of us (Greg, Stephen, and Nick) will select one reader who has been most helpful to each of us throughout the course of the competition.
In choosing our “most helpful” reader, we will each consider things like help suggesting / identifying qualifying routes, itineraries, highlighting cool activities at stops along the way, suggesting ways to save or fix the trip if and when things go wrong, assistance in identifying how to follow up for retroactive credit if we have issues with that, and other ways in which readers suggest and identify ways to complete the challenge and win.
Each of us will select one (1) “most helpful” reader for a total of three (3) “most helpful” readers. If we each earn the 1,000,000 miles from SAS EuroBonus, each of those “most helpful” folks will get 100,000 SAS EuroBonus miles* pending approval from SAS EuroBonus. That’s potentially enough miles for a round trip business class ticket from North America to Europe on SAS if you can find saver award availability or it is more than enough for a one-way SkyTeam business class award to Europe!
*Note that we are waiting to hear back from SAS for confirmation that we can transfer miles from our accounts to yours. If this turns out to be impossible, we reserve the right to substitute a similar prize. Note also that your competitor (Greg, Stephen, or Nick) must earn the 1,000,000 miles in order to be able to fulfill this prize.
The overall champion will get 5 Hilton “Be My Guest” certificates and 300,000 additional miles!*
We promised that there would be something really cool coming with this challenge. Well….Whomp! Here it is!
Tim and Carrie will select which of the three Frequent Miler team members (Greg, Stephen, and Nick) has done the best job in completing the challenge and will be crowned the Frequent Miler Million Mile Madness 2024 winner using the following criteria:
- Speed (judging both the speed of completion as well as least amount of time spent in-flight)
- Affordability (judging the cost-effectiveness of the itinerary)
- Style (judging the comfort / luxury / enjoyment factors of the trip)
- Actually earning the million miles (this is a requirement in order to win the competition)
- Read more detail about our Frequent Miler Million Mile Madness 2024 challenge here
Tim and Carrie will select the Frequent Miler team member who has won the Frequent Miler Million Mile Madness 2024 challenge. The person identified as the “most helpful” reader for that Frequent Miler team member will get:
- 5 free Hilton all-brand “By My Guest” certificates! Hilton has graciously offered to give the identified “most helpful” reader of the Frequent Miler Million Mile Madness 2024 winner an incredible 5 free nights. These certificates can be used at any hotel in the Hilton portfolio worldwide for a standard room. Each certificate is good for a one-night stay. These certificates could be used to book you a room at places like the Waldorf-Astoria Maldives, the Conrad Bora-Bora, or the Beverly Hilton (pending availability of a standard room). You could alternatively use them at your favorite Curio or Tapestry Collection property or even at a Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, or Hampton by Hilton and more (though we recommend finding the best use you can!).
- 300,000 SAS EuroBonus miles!* This is on top of the 100,000 miles from being identified as a “most helpful” reader, meaning that this person will receive a grand total of 400,000 miles! That could be enough for round trip business class tickets to Europe for an entire family of four. Of course, given dynamic pricing on SAS flights and the uncertainty of finding award availability when you want to travel, it could be an entirely different redemption(s), but between your haul of miles and your Hilton certificates, you should be sitting pretty to plan a nice getaway!
The fine print
In the interest of clarity, we provide the following details:
- Each of the three (3) total “most helpful” readers identified by Greg, Stephen, and Nick will get 100,000 miles, pending approval from SAS to transfer said miles (or a similar prize)
- The one (1) “most helpful” reader who helps the Frequent Miler Million Mile Madness 2024 winner (Greg, Stephen, or Nick, as judged and identified by Frequent Miler team members Tim and Carrie) will get an additional 300,000 miles, pending approval from SAS to transfer miles (or a similar prize) and 5 Hilton “Be My Guest” certificates.
- The opening date for entries is October 18, 2024.
- Entries (helpful suggestions) will close at the end of the competition, which is when Tim and Carrie have selected a Frequent Miler Million Mile Madness 2024 winner (expected once the one million miles have posted to our accounts or we have confirmed that we will not receive the miles).
- Winners will be contacted within 2 weeks of the end of the competition*
- Prizes will be given out with the following timeline:
- Hilton certificates: Within 12 weeks of the end of the competition*.
- SAS miles: within 12 weeks of the competitors (who successfully completed the EuroBonus promo) receiving 1 million SAS miles.
- Note: any and all prize related expenses, including without limitation any and all federal, state, and/or local taxes shall be the sole responsibility of the winner. We cannot accurately value this prize.
*The competition officially ends after travel is completed and once all 3 competitors have received confirmation that they have earned the 1M SAS miles or have confirmed that they are not eligible for the prize.

If you would like to help us plan our itineraries for the challenge, you’ll want to head to our individual journal / planning posts to offer your tips, tricks, advice, and suggestions:
You can alternatively submit tips via email by sending to our Mailbag here. Be sure to identify the name of the competitor to whom it is addressed in the subject line (Greg, Stephen, or Nick) and include “Million Mile Madness” in the subject line.
We will be taking your help all the way through the end of the competition (when we determine we have earned or will not earn the million miles and Tim and Carrie select a winner). We’re taking your help both during this planning phase, during the travel itself (something is bound to go wrong and we’ll need your suggestions to fix it!) and even after travel has been completed (if a flight doesn’t credit properly, maybe you’ll have a great suggestion for how to fix that!). We’ll only identify the “most helpful” readers at the end of the competition.
As we continue in our planning phase, the tips have been excellent so far and we’re getting excited, but there is a lot more work to be done. Head over to our journal posts and leave a comment for your chance to end up with nights & flights.
I was really hoping that either SAS or Star Alliance would sponsor the prize for this contest. It seems like such a great publicity opportunity for Star Alliance to bring attention to their network.
I think you mean SkyTeam 🙂
I think so too. . . 🙁
Very generous offer note however that it costs 50 SEK (ca 5$) per every 1000 points transferred to another EuroBonus member and the recipient must have been a EuroBonus member for at least 1 year and needs at least a 1000 points balance in their account. You can max receive 100 000 points per year. Check out FAQs below:

You can however share points for free using a point sharing group with some limitations/terms which make things tricky for this points giveaway idea. See below:

This is an extremely generous giveaway for a little travel blog. I love that it won’t technically cost you any money out of pocket, but it only adds to the generosity that I associate with the FM brand. The dedicated referral links and all the time and effort that those take combined with removing affiliate links when you don’t have the highest offer makes your website the first one I look for whenever I apply for a card. Y’all are the MrBeast of travel blogs.
I love your content, the dynamic that Nick and Greg have with each other on the podcast and YouTube, and the Perspective and explanations that are basic enough for many beginners, but engaging enough to make it relevant for the advanced.
I won’t be winning any of these prizes because I don’t think I have anything to add, but I am very much looking forward to the takeaways of this Challenge to learn some new tips and tricks for my next travel adventure.
Not sure they’re so “little” anymore.
Trust me, we are. I think we just officially graduated from “itsy-bitsy” to “itty-bitty.”
No malice or attempt to malign was meant by calling FM little. By travel blog standards they’re far from a small one.
I was just trying to put perspective on the generosity of the giveaway relative to the revenue the blog likely generates. FM isn’t Safeway or McDonald’s so they can’t afford to giveaway millions of dollars and stay in business. So for a travel blog that’s not TPG, the prizes are pretty huge.
