Now 200K Membership Rewards points with new targeted Business Gold referral

Yesterday, we reported on an incredible new referral offer on the Amex Business Platinum card. It turns out that there’s also an awesome increased offer on the Amex Business Gold card that’s good for 200,000 Membership Rewards points after making $15,000 in purchases in the first 3 months. As you can see above, this is the best publicly-available offer we’ve seen on the Business Gold card. We’ve previously seen some people get targeted to open accounts under this offer, but I believe this is the first time we’ve seen existing cardholders be targeted to refer to this offer.

While this one certainly does require a hefty amount of spend, the juice can be worth the squeeze here as 200,000 points at our Reasonable Redemption Value of 1.55 cents per point are worth $3,100. If you maximize the use of points through strategic transfers to airline and hotel partners, you can do even better.

If you have a situation where you can meet the spending requirement mostly within a 4x bonus category, you could end up with more than a quarter of a million points. While this card does have a $375 annual fee, the $20 monthly office supply store credit helps to mitigate that some — making the first year value very strong on this new offer.

How to know if you are targeted

Only some Business Gold cardholders are targeted to refer to the 200K offer every time. If you are targeted, when you log in to your American Express card account and click “Refer a Friend” in the menu at the bottom of the page:

You will see under your Business Gold account that your friend will receive 200,000 Membership Rewards points if you are targeted to refer to this offer. If it says in that place that your friend will get 100,000 points, it is still possible that your friend may click your link and see this increased offer, but your link will not populate the 200K offer every time unless it says in that spot that your friend will get 200K points..
