Quick Thoughts
Be sure to note the various dates for this promotion. The first part is that you have to register for the promotion, then you have to book your flights by August 3. Those flights have to be completed by September 30.
The 50% promo code you’ll receive will then only be valid for travel booked from mid-October to just before Thanksgiving and for travel for a couple of months in the new year, with a few blackout dates in between. If those dates work out for you, this could work out to be a good offer.
I’m not sure if this offer is targeted or not. My wife received an email about it, but I didn’t (yet). Despite that, I was able to register for the promo, so hopefully it’s open for everyone.
Anyone know if the code that you get is non-transferable and/or only good for the account that bought the original fare?
I think I found the answer to my question…
“ The single-use promotion code provided in this email and on My Account can only be redeemed once and can be redeemed by anyone.”
Anyone care to start a thread with unused codes when they are available?
I’ve tried and tried, but I just can’t get excited about SWA. Even a Companion Pass or spend bonus on a Chase SWA card doesn’t do it for me. I just want an assigned seat. I don’t want to stand by a pole. I don’t want to deal with some of the clientele. I wish I could get excited about SWA, but it’s just not for us.
[…] Southwest will email you a 50% off of a future flight promotional code if you book two one-ways or one round-trip flight by tomorrow night for travel through the end of September, and of travel on those flights too. A few notes about the promotional code:– It’s only good for paid fares– There are block outs for holiday travel between Thanksgiving-ish and New Years-ish– There are more block outs for travel around MLK day, Valentines Day, and randomly March 3Because I’m my own kind of special, I investigated what might cause March 3 to be included in the blackouts. The best I can find is it’s exactly one week before Daylight Savings Time which is peak travel for obvious reasons, so hooray I guess? (Thanks to FM) […]
This comes up every time but worth checking again. The promotion states that to get the promo code, you must book a revenue flight. The “revenue flight” does include vouchers issued to you for delayed flights, luggage loss etc.. Is that correct?
So if I buy a R/T cash ticket for one person and get the 50% off code, could I use the code to discount 4 tickets in 2024? Or will the discount only apply for a single ticket?
From the FAQs on the registration page:
“The discount from the promotion code will apply to all passengers booked under a single reservation.”
Can you send me the link to the FAQ page? I was curious if I add a companion or upgrade a flight if that voids the promtion
The link is in the post
Are you sure about the October travel? It appears that you get the code and you have to book in the fall for Travel in early 2024.
I already had a cheap flight booked from SAN-PHX next month so I canceled and rebooked just to be safe.
You’re absolutely right – I’d misread that. Thanks for highlighting the error – I’ve fixed the post now.
It is a confusing and goofy promo to be sure. I’ll likely get some value out of it but only because I have a trip planned next month.
