Marriott & United offering elite members additional reciprocal earnings

Marriott and United have had a partnership for several years, offering some level of elite status with the other partner if you have high enough status with them. They’ve launched a new promotion called Earn-Earn which is a repeat of one they ran last fall, but with the opportunity to earn a few additional bonus miles and points along the way.

Quick Thoughts

The way this promo works is that if you have Marriott Titanium or Ambassador status, you can earn 750 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points when taking a paid United flight. Somewhat similarly, those with United Gold status or higher will earn 500 bonus MileagePlus miles when having a paid Marriott stay. If you end up having both a paid stay and flight during the promo period, you’ll earn an additional 350 bonus miles and points with each program. The 350 miles/points are a one-time opportunity, while the 750 points and/or 500 miles can be earned repeatedly during the promotion dates.

If you have high enough status in one or the other programs, this promo is worth registering for in case you end up having paid travel that satisfies the requirements for this promo. Overall though, it’s not the most rewarding of offers and so it’s unlikely to make it worth booking a stay with Marriott or a flight with United just for the sake of the bonus points/miles.

What happens if I registered for the United/Hilton promo also? Will I get both from my next United flight?

Pam

So we participated in this same promo last fall – and everytime P2 flew united they did in fact credit his United appropriately – however, that same amount was somehow taken from his Marriott account? I questioned Marriott and provided information – we back and forth a couple of times and I just let it go – it was only 1K in bonvoy points – so not worth any more effort on my part – but, still was irriatating nonetheless!

[…] Do this now (if you hold United or Marriott status): Register for Marriott and United’s reciprocal earning promotion for stays or premium cabin flights:– Marriott registration link (For Ambassador, Titanium, or Unobtainium status)– United registration link (For Gold, Platinum, 1K, Global Services, or Moon Walkers)If you haven’t linked your United status to Marriott, you can link here, and vice-versa here.
