We recently saw an Amex Offer come out that was good for a big Membership Rewards points payout on Carnival cruises. Now we’re seeing a new offer through several credit card booking platforms for 10-15% back on Carnival cruises up to either $86 or $129 back.
The Deal
- New card-linked offers are out on some Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Chase cards (among other issuers) for cash back on Carnival Cruises. Maximum amounts may vary. At the time of writing, I have seen:
- 15% back up to a maximum of $129 back on $860
- 10% back up to a maximum of $86 back on $860
Key Terms
- Expires 8/15/23 (YMMV as these offers sometimes get extended and/or may have different expiration via different issuers
Quick Thoughts
I saw two versions of this offer on different cards. One was good for 15% back up to $129:
On other cards, I saw 10% back up to $86.
Either way, these offers could stack well with those who have been following How to get free cruises by gaming casino status matches. The Carnival “free” cruise offer still requires paying taxes and a $100 deposit per passenger. Furthermore, you don’t need to prepay gratuities, but you could prepay them if it gets you to enough spend to trigger an offer like one of these.
Neither of these offers are nearly as generous as the current Amex Offer for 25,000 Membership Rewards points back when you spend $1K at Carnival Cruises (enrollment required), but if you don’t have that offer or have already used it and still have another cruise or two to pay for, this could certainly come in handy. And remember that you can make multiple payments toward your Carnival cruise online, so if you have a more expensive Carnival booking, you could potentially stack multiple of these offers.
Interesting. I haven’t got those from Chase, but I got 25000 MR points from Amex offer if spend over $1000.
On my US Bank Altitude Reserve I have a spend $100 get $35 back offer. Not as high of a total but a significant discount (35%). Even better I got it last month in June and used it already, then got the offer again this month for July! It works on gift cards bought directly from Carnival online and you have the option to redeem points with RTR to cover the purchase at 1.5cpp since it codes as travel.
Stack option – Another way to save on a cruise is to buy AARP gift cards for the specific cruise line at 10% discount. 100, or 500 denomination (90 or 450 purchase price). Max of 5 cards per month per AARP member. Can be used for shore excursions, gratuities + onboard expenses too. Book with any travel agent + pay with the gc – or have the front desk credit your account when onboard. Carnival, Holland America, Celebrity, Princess, Royal Caribbean
