15x / 15% back on Hyatt via Rakuten for completed stays in the US, Canada, and Mexico

0

Shopping portal Rakuten is currently offering 15% cash back or 15x Amex Membership Rewards points or Bilt points for completed World of Hyatt hotel stays in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. That could make for a fantastic stack given that you’d still be booking directly with Hyatt (and therefore earning World of Hyatt points, elite credit, and getting elite benefits).

Quick Thoughts

This seems like a fantastic deal for anyone with a paid stay to book.

As is the case when clicking through a portal, you are ultimately redirected to Hyatt’s site, where you’d be booking directly with Hyatt. You should therefore qualify to earn World of Hyatt points, get elite night credit, and receive elite benefits. This is essentially just a 15x stack on top of hotel earnings.

Earning 15x transferable points on a Hyatt stay is an amazing return. That is particularly true when you consider the fact that Hyatt is a Bilt transfer partner, so the 15x here could become World of Hyatt points. That’s 3 times as many points as a member with no status would ordinarily earn for Hyatt bookings. And you’ll still earn the Hyatt points on the booking and whatever points you earn with the credit card you use to pay.

Keep in mind that bookings do not need to be prepaid to earn portal rewards. A rate that you pay at the hotel is fine, and you should expect rewards based on the rate in effect on the day when you click through and make your reservation, though keep in mind that some specially-negotiated rates may not qualify.

The main restriction to keep in mind is the geographic one — this deal is only valid on completed stays in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Still, if you’ll be booking paid stays in those countries, this offer is well worth a look. In fact, I may book a couple of speculative reservations just to take advantage of this and decide later whether to keep them.
