Citi and Amazon are teaming up to offer a free $30 credit towards Amazon Music Unlimited, which will work out to be good for 5 free months for Prime Members or about 4 free months for those without a Prime membership (including the normal 30-day trial). I personally use Amazon music as my main music player on my phone (I purchase mp3’s from Amazon) and I’ve been very resistant to paying for Music Unlimited, but this promotion is going to get me to try it for a few months as nearly 5 free months is too good to pass up.

Quick Thoughts

This looks like a great deal to try out Amazon Music Unlimited for plenty of time to see if it suits you. As I said at the top, I’ve long resisted paying more for Amazon Music Unlimited for a number of reasons, but the biggest one has been price: I don’t think I usually buy $8-10 per month in new music. Sure, I buy more some months — but I didn’t think the math worked out over a year’s time. However, with this deal, I’ll give it a shot. With T-Mobile’s recent announcement that they have raised the data cap before throttling to 50GB/month and free Netflix on them, the time is right for me to try out this service and see if it’s worth giving them the eight bucks that T-Mobile is saving me on Netflix.

Note that those who have been Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers in the past are not eligible as per the terms. Also note that Citi business cards, Costco cards, and Chairman’s cards are not eligible per the terms. However, other personal cards and debit cards should be eligible to take part in this deal.

If you take advantage of this one, be sure to set a reminder for when your extended free trial is scheduled to end so you can decide whether you want to cancel or be charged for the ongoing service.

I don’t see what good is Amazon music if you can’t download it to your own private library.

Jenny

Mine said Promo Code is invalid or expired. But the individual plan shows Zero, so I’m not sure it’s “0” because of free trial month or it’s because I’m using citi card. After that it’s the final step: star your free trial. How can I be sure I’m getting citi’s deal? Need some help here. Thanks

Jenny

Thank you very much. I’ll give it a try.

Anthony

Nick,

If we have multiple Citi cards can we stack them for a longer trial?

Anthony

It’s not clear whether to sign up for the 30 day free trial first then go through this link? What should I do? It only says up to 4 months on your link.
