Quick Thoughts
Both of these offers require you to load the digital coupons to your account, so be sure to do that before heading to Kroger.
The terms of the third party gift card offer aren’t entirely clear as they refer to “participating” gift cards, without stating which gift cards are participating. As it doesn’t state a particular category, that usually means that you’ll earn 4x fuel points on all third party gift cards (i.e. not Kroger gift cards).
I went into a Kroger store last night to double check the terms but there were no signs on display about the promotion. When asking about the offer at the Customer Service desk, the reply I received was:
Um, I dunno. I guess it’s for food and clothing. Y’know, like restaurants and stuff. I guess.
Cheers for that.
Both Chase Freedom and Discover It credit cards are offering 5x at grocery stores this quarter, so using one of those cards will sweeten the deal.
Kroger fuel points expire the month after you receive them, so points earned this month will expire at the end of May. If you’ve already earned all the fuel points you’ll need for the next six weeks, it might be worth holding off on buying gift cards until May 1 or 2. Those fuel points would then expire at the end of June, giving you more time to use them.
Don’t see this offer on the Ralphs app. Anybody have any luck?
Gas in Chicagoland is $3.00 and over. Should I buy enough Visa gift cards to get $3.00 a gallon off or is there a cap on how much per gallon I can get off? The fee for one $100 Visa gift card is $5.95 correct? I have never done Kroger 4x fuel rewards before is there a gas station at the Kroger location or do I use fuel rewards at a participating station? I will be near a Kroger this week. Thank you.
Typically they cap it at max of a dollar off per gallon.
Yep, it’s a maximum of $1 per gallon on up to 35 gallons. Spending $250 on VGCs will get you 1,000 fuel points which is equivalent to $1 per gallon.
If you have a large gas tank or can fill 2+ vehicles at the same time then it can be worth it. Our car only takes 11 gallons though, so we can only save $11 per fill up which makes it less worthwhile.
I think the $100 cards might be slightly less than $5.95, but I’m not 100% sure on that.
Thank you.
