Entertainment Books are perpetually on sale, but there’s a new discount that makes them the cheapest I’ve ever seen.
The Deal
- Buy a 2018 Entertainment Book for $3.99 when joining their annual renewal program (see more about this below).
- Direct link (but see below about cashback).
Key Terms
- Expires May 20, 2018.
- Offer limited to five books per order.
Quick Thoughts
Even though we’re almost halfway through the year, $3.99 is still excellent value for Entertainment Books. You can lower the cost even further by going through a cashback portal for up to 20% back, making the net cost $3.20. The $3.99 promotion doesn’t appear on the homepage, so click through from a cashback portal, then copy and paste the direct link above – your cashback should still track.
I used to buy the Hampton Roads VA Entertainment Book every year and got some great value from it. It was a great way to save money on places we’d be visiting / eating at anyway, plus it encouraged us to try a few new places. At $3.20 per book, using even one coupon should more than make up for the cost of the book.
In case you’re not sure how Entertainment Books work, they’re like a giant book of Groupons. Each book has hundreds of coupons for your area – some offer discounts at restaurants, others offer Buy One Get One Free tickets for local attractions, etc.
With a net cost of $3.20, it could even make sense to buy a book for a US city where you’ll be going on vacation. Just be aware that it can sometimes take a couple of weeks to receive the book, so you might not receive it in time if you’re planning last minute travel. You do get access to online coupons though, so you should still be able to take advantage of most of the deals even if your book doesn’t arrive in time.
One thing to bear in mind is that this promotion will enroll you in their annual renewal program. However, Entertainment.com will email you about a month before renewal and offer you the chance to cancel. Cancelling will most likely be worthwhile as you pay a higher price with annual renewal (albeit with a $5 discount) and forgo the chance to earn cashback. I think new books are issued towards the end of the year which means the email would likely be sent in October or November, so keep an eye out for that.
Edit: Frank’s pointed out in the comments below that if you cancel your annual renewal before receiving the 2019 book, you’ll be charged $5. That makes the net cost $8.20 which obviously isn’t as good as $3.20, but could still be worthwhile.
[…] isn’t the cheapest we’ve seen these books. Stephen wrote a post in May of 2018 when these were on sale for $4 and you could stack for a net cost of $3.20. A couple of months later they were again available on sale, ironically for a bit more money (odd […]
I bought two books for the same city in a single order. The system gives me two access codes. After activating one, then selected to cancel the auto renewal. I see the cancellation applied to “quantity: 2”. Does this mean that I should not have to pay another $5 when I started to use the 2nd access code? Thanks.
I’m afraid I don’t know how that works, although it does sound like you wouldn’t have to pay it again. It might be best to reach out to Entertainment.com though to ensure that’s the case.

I had a really hard time using the Los Angeles-area book. Seemingly all the coupons were for a specific outlet of a chain restaurant a 90-minute drive away. The national coupons for hotel chains, car rentals, etc. all yielded higher prices than searching a site like Kayak.
Fortunately there were a few coupons for Ralph’s (Kroger) that were valid at all locations — those just covered the cost of the book, but were hardly exciting.
Not worth the time if you’re in LA and don’t feel like driving all day to save $2 on a bad taco.
You should note that there is a $5 CANCELLATION FEE is you don’t accept next year’s edition, making the cost $8.20. See paragraph #4 of T&C, below.
1. If you are already an Annual Renewal Member, any additional Books you enroll into the program will be added to your Annual Renewal order.
2. The cost of future years Annual Renewal Books will be $5 less than retail price (retail price varies by Book edition) and shipping will be FREE. These Books are ready for shipment to customers starting in July through the end of September. Coupons are valid immediately.
3. Each year, we’ll send you official notification (via email or regular mail) approximately one month prior to shipping your Annual Renewal Book. This notification will confirm your Annual Renewal price, the approximate ship date, and instructions on how to update/cancel your order, should you wish to do so.
4. If you cancel prior to receiving your first Book(s) through the Annual Renewal program (2019 Book) your credit card will be charged a $5 cancellation fee per Book. If you do not cancel your Annual Renewal Membership, Entertainment® will charge your credit card when the new Book is printed and ready to ship.
5. If you return your Book after receiving it, you will be charged $7.95 for return shipping & handling. This fee is a direct pass-through cost for shipping the Book(s) back to Entertainment®. The $7.95 return shipping and handling charge can be waived if you return the Book(s) at your own cost. However, you must contact Customer Service to have the charge waived. See the complete return policy for more details on returns and refunds.
6. If your credit card reaches its expiration date, your failure to cancel after receipt of our notification will constitute your authorization for us to continue billing your card. The credit card you supply will be securely stored and will only be used for the Entertainment® Annual Renewal transaction.
7. Annual Renewal is limited to 5 Books per order, not to exceed total enrollment of 10 Books per Member.
8. Entertainment® reserves the right to modify this program at any time.
I’d missed that term – thanks for pointing it out. I’ve updated the post to mention that.
So pay with a prepaid gift card and liquidate before then?
