Miraval Arizona Resort & Spa joined the World of Hyatt family in 2017. It’s always required a large number of points for stays, but there’s a more affordable way of staying there as World of Hyatt is offering 50% off the number of points required for award stays over the summer.

Quick Thoughts
You have a couple of options with this promotion – you can pay for your stay entirely using points, or you can use Points + Cash although that requires a substantial cash payment.
Assuming double occupancy, the second person supplement means you’d pay 65,000 points per night and get thus get 32,500 points per night back.
With Points + Cash, you’d pay 32,500 points per night + $550 and get 16,250 points per night back. If you were to go for the Points + Cash option, be aware that there’s an Amex Offer for Miraval Arizona. This offers a $100 statement credit when spending $500, so pay for each night separately if you have the offer on more than one American Express card.
There’s a second Miraval promotion offering double points on stays. With cash prices starting at $807 including taxes and fees though, I’d imagine this option will be less popular than the opportunity to pay with points and get half of them back.
Be aware that you’ll need the full amount in points before the points rebate in order to make a booking. For example, a three night reservation for two people would require 195,000 World of Hyatt points in your account. You’d therefore need all 195,000 points in your account, as the 97,500 points wouldn’t be rebated until later.
The Miraval website warns that the resort will be undergoing a property enhancement project from May 10th through September 30th. This promotion falls bang in the middle of that, so that – and the Arizona summer – might affect the pleasantness of your stay.

Just spent two nights at Miraval last week. I used the two free nights from the Hyatt credit card offer. It was amazing! We used the included $350 credit p/p for fabulous massages and a cooking class. We brought a couple of bottles of wine as the alcohol isn’t included. The food (all-inclusive) was great and we went to several of the included classes. A wonderful girl’s trip!! I would still go there in the summer…lots of places have a/c and…it’s a dry heat!
I spent 5 days at Miraval (used my World of Hyatt card free nights) the 3rd week of April. It was an awesome stay but even that early in the spring, temps climbed into the 90s. Yes, it’s a dry heat but that doesn’t help much. Miraval has a number of outdoor activities -hikes, equestrian activities, ziplining- that would be miserable if not downright dangerous with temps in the 100s. Don’t go in the summer but do plan a trip in the winter, spring or fall for fabulous spa activities, great food, meditation and yoga, health-related classed and lectures.
I’ll state the obvious. except for those not familiar with Arizona. It is HOT during that time frame. I spent 10 years in Scottsdale and enjoyed the dry heat although July/Aug is really bad (the humidity creeps up and any humidity when it is 110 outside is nasty).
It looks like a very nice resort but in June and July expect temperatures over 100 every day and 110 isn’t outside the possibilities. I’m not sure if Tucson is a few degrees cooler than Phoenix due to being a bit higher in altitude.
Resorts in Scottsdale are always at least 50% cheaper during the summer. For example a nice resort may be $350+ at times but in the summer be in the $120-150 range. $120+ green fees go down to $30.
Personally I don’t mind it but be forewarned and check out the actual dollar costs before using the points 🙂
