It’s worth registering for this IHG Q3 promo, but it might not be rewarding enough to make it worth switching reservations to them.

Quick Thoughts
As with all hotel promotions, it’s worth registering even if you have no immediate travel plans so that you don’t forget to register at a later date. Despite this being a triple promo, none of the offers are likely to be worth moving reservations to IHG properties.
With the 2,000/5,000 promo, you only earn bonus points after you’ve stayed a second time during the promotion period. The 5,000 bonus points are only earned at their more expensive brands and there’s a limit on how many points you can earn.
The 20-30% off promo has the potential to be worthwhile if you don’t mind booking a non-refundable rate. When doing a few searches, the Easy Like Summer Sale rate was consistently the lowest rate on offer. It was even lower than the Your Rate offer for IHG Rewards Club members.
For example, the Easy Like Summer Sale rate at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Chicago was $223.00 per night:
By comparison, the cheapest alternative rate was $265.05 per night. That was a Your Rate which offered free cancellation up to three days before the stay.
The terms state that the Easy Like Summer Sale rate is only available at participating hotels which does indeed appear to be the case. When checking rates for the Kimpton Hotel Allegro in Chicago, that particular promo rate wasn’t available.
As for the third promotion, IHG Rewards Club is marketing it as up to 32c off per gallon. In reality, it’s only a 25c discount. That’s because they’re including the 5-7c discount you get from linking your IHG account with the Fuel Rewards program. You’re limited to a 25c discount on up to 20 gallons on one tank of gas, so your savings are capped at $5. That’s an OK bonus, but it certainly doesn’t make it worth going out of your way to stay at an IHG property in order to get it.
Overall, this IHG Q3 promo isn’t particularly impressive. It could work out well though if you have some one night stays during the promotion period. Don’t forget to register for the promotion here.
These are not applicable to Europe……….does IHG no longer care about its overseas customers
I think it just depends on the promotion. I’ve gotten excited about IHG promotions in the past, only to realize that they’re only for stays for EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa).
[…] special rate will also stack with IHG’s current promo so long as your stay dates line up and you have two stays within that promotion […]

surprised you dont talk about Q3 Accelerate at all. im going to assume it will be double dip when it comes out. people should plan for it.
I was actually assuming that this promo will be in place of a Q3 Accelerate promo. If they do bring out an Accelerate offer during the same period, that’d turn this promo from meh to great.
i would be shocked if IHG didnt bust out Q3 Accelerate. no reason to suddenly stop it. i guess we will see. otherwise this promo is terrible. thank u for the info as always.
I concur, without a Q3 Accelerate this promo is less than meh, it is terrible as a replacement for Accelerate. Q2 accelerate gave over 55K points for total $125 out of pocket for one night needed Memorial Day stay. Whoo hoo! For Q3, I’ve got two nights booked that I might move to paid nights at IHG; but this promo is not convincing; no way to get any bonus points at all from only two consecutive nights at the same property. I also have three Q3 points only nights booked at a high end IHG property. It was only a so-so redemption value, now about 6% less impressive as a redemption with the lower rate available. But points are now available at a lower rate too with the points and cash trick with points 10% off. Even if the points weren’t on sale (not impressive too), I wouldn’t change to a paid rate. No need to horde points, and none of these promos are so far worth my time to even consider. Yawn…
Thank you Stephen,
Saved $50 by rebooking a 2-night stay at a HI-Express that I had reserved already 🙂
Excellent – glad the promo worked out for you!

Is this targeted? The registration is asking for a promo code on the 2,000/5,000 points.
I’ve updated the link to the landing page in the post – that should now pre-populate the promo code.
The Register Now button does not function in the app on my 5s iPhone.
I’ve updated the link to the offer within the post – does the Register Now button work now?
it’s asking for a promo code when i try to register, even when signed in to my IHG account.
