Through 1/23/18, Kroger is offering 4X Fuel Points on select travel gift card purchases. While some of these brands can be purchased at a discount now and then, the extra fuel points might make these a decent deal if you’ve got a large tank or two to fill.

- Disney Gift, Southwest, Delta, Carnival, Uber, Airbnb, Hyatt, Hotels.com plus Amusement Parks, Water Parks, Attractions, and Automotive Specialty Shops

Many of these brands are available discounted from time to time. However, since 1,000 Fuel Points gives you $1 off per gallon on up to 35 gallons. With this promotion, $250 in gift cards will earn you $1 off per gallon. If you’re able to maximize the fill-up, that’s a $35 return. When trying to maximize this type of promotion, I’ll usually bring two vehicles to the pump and/or a gas can from the garage in order to get as many gallons as I can. This deal would further be enhanced by using a card that earns one of the Best Category Bonuses at grocery stores or it may be helpful in meeting a signup bonus.If you’ll be shopping at Kroger, it’s worth logging into your account to load the coupon.

Carl, I was stymied by the Fred Meyer/Kroger situation as well and couldn’t receive the grocery bonus from my Amex BCP. I recently found there are several QFC stores near me where I can buy these gift cards for 4X fuel points. For a $250 GC purchase, I receive 6% back from Amex BCP, save $35 in gas (at the FM gas stations or Shell) for total savings of $50, or 20%. If I buy the gas at Shell (usually more expensive per gallon though), I receive an additional 4% cash back on my Costco Visa.
Yep, I am hip to QFC but I am way up near Canadian border here and there are none anywhere nearby. I can do Safeway for their fuel but I do not like their location (Only one here), nor their fuel anyhow as I buy premium from Shell or Mobil/Exxon. I drive a German car and I learned my lesson on cheap gas a while back!
Sad here. 4X fuel is good, but here the Kroger’s in this area are FRED MEYER which, for reasons beyond my comprehension, show up as Jewelry stores on my fave “use at grocery type card”.
