IHG One Rewards lovers could currently get a 70% transfer bonus when sending points to IHG, but in most cases that’s still not a deal I’d recommend doing since you can so frequently buy IHG points at a big discount.

Quick Thoughts
In this case, the bonus is being offered by Chase Ultimate Rewards. Even at a 70% bonus, I wouldn’t consider transferring points to IHG except in a very fringe scenario where you needed to top off for an immediate redemption.
That’s because you can frequently buy IHG points with a 100% bonus, which means that IHG sells points for just half a cent per point during a lot of the year. Since you can redeem Ultimate Rewards points at $0.01 per point at any time, you could just cash out points and buy them on sale and effectively buy 2 IHG points with every 1 Ultimate Rewards point you cash out. That’s a far better deal than getting 1.7 IHG points for each Ultimate Rewards point transferred, which would be the case with the 70% transfer bonus.
Unless you really need IHG points right away and IHG isn’t offering a sale on points, I wouldn’t consider transferring to IHG. Just buy the points on sale and cash out if you want to feel like you got a 100% transfer bonus.

This is not necessarily true. For some, they’ve already maxed out their purchase of IHG points, which is normally 150K per year (not including the 100% bonus). Sometimes they’ll allow up to 250K (again, not including any bonuses), like the one that just ended on June 26. So, this is promo may be helpful for those who have maxed out and need more points, and not just those looking for an immediate redemption.
@Nick Reyes Reyes Do you think Chase will just increase the normal transfer rate from UR to ihg to 1:2 or 1:3? They’ve basically admitted that’s a fair rate when they made the ihg premier earn 3x everywhere. Also Amex/Chase increasing rate to bonvoy to 1:2? Remember amex MR used to be 1:1.5 marriott(1mr=.5spg=1.5 marriott).
I would highly doubt it. That just adds unnecessary complexity. The vast vast vast majority of customers aren’t thinking about this stuff the way people in our community are. Keeping everything 1:1 offers a simple program to explain to the average customer who doesn’t eat and breathe this stuff.
