Dan’s Deals notes $77 fares between Los Angeles and Honolulu or Maui on both Delta and Hawaiian Airlines. These are basic economy fares, but if you’re based on the west coast and looking for a little “aloha”, it doesn’t get much cheaper than this.
- Delta and Hawaiian airlines are both offering tickets between Los Angeles and Honolulu or Maui for just $77.50 on a number of dates between now and early March
- Direct link to Google Flights to search
The cheapest fares are pretty widely available in February apart from President’s Week and the sale prices end in early March.
The nice thing is that you can book these fares through credit card portals. This could be a great use of Chase Ultimate Rewards points (Sapphire Reserve cardholders would pay about 5,133 points) or Amex Membership Rewards points if you have the Business Platinum and Delta or Hawaiian is your 35% rebate airline (keeping in mind that rebate is limited to 500K points per year). New Capital One Venture X cardholders might consider using their $300 annual travel credit to cover two round trip tickets (I did verify that the $77.50 fares show up there). There are lots of ways to play this.
We’re obviously still in very uncertain times, so I’d probably be hesitant to book a basic economy ticket for travel in the near term. That said, I know that many people are traveling and this sale will probably appeal to those who are.
