Chase updates DoorDash benefits on several cards (now $20 min order)

Update: The $10 monthly DoorDash credits on seemingly every Chase card nowadays now have a new, frustrating $20 minimum order, making them significantly less appealing for many folks.

A few years ago, Chase added DoorDash benefits on several cards. Then, in August 2024, they expanded benefits, meaning some cardholders started receiving several monthly discounts, as well as a DoorDash membership for varying lengths, depending on their card.

As of February 1, 2025, Chase made a few more adjustments to DoorDash benefits, so you can find the new details below.

DoorDash Scooter DashPass Food Delivery

The Deal

  • Chase has DoorDash benefits as follows:
    • Chase Sapphire, Sapphire Preferred, and Sapphire Reserve cardholders can activate free DashPass through December 31, 2027 or a minimum of 12 months from the date activated (so if you activate in 2027, you’ll end up with DashPass for 12 months ending in 2028)
    • Sapphire Reserve cardmembers with an activated DashPass benefit now receive:
      • Two promos of up to $10 off at checkout each calendar month on non-restaurant orders on DoorDash. (now requires $20 minimum order)
      • $5 monthly DoorDash in-app credit. Through January 31st, 2025 that credit could be used on either restaurant or non-restaurant orders, but beginning on February 1, 2025, the benefit became $5 off restaurant orders.
    • Sapphire Preferred cardmembers with an activated DashPass benefit now receive:
      • One promo of up to $10 off at checkout each calendar month on non-restaurant orders on DoorDash. (now requires $20 minimum order)
    • Co-branded cardholders receive:
      • 12 free months of DashPass when activated by January 31, 2027.
      • One promo of up to $10 off at checkout each quarter on non-restaurant orders on DoorDash. (now requires $20 minimum order)

Quick Thoughts

If you live in an area well-served by DoorDash, this might be a nice convenience, though you won’t get full value if you’re paying delivery fees and/or inflated prices. That said, I’m somewhat likely to use this for a pickup pharmacy or convenience store order each month, whereas Instacart wasn’t particularly useful for me. That said, I imagine that many folks might have preferred the Instacart credits. Either way, it’s good to see Chase make an effort to expand DoorDash, and these benefits are especially nice on the Sapphire Preferred, given that they could certainly help make a nice dent in the card’s annual fee if you value these DoorDash benefits.

It is so frustrating, everytime people actually find a useful way to use these coupons that the card issuers brag so much about their ‘value’, they find a way to ‘fix’ it and make them much more annoying to use.

That $20 minimum for the DoorDash credits is such a buzzkill. It really sucks the value out of those $10 perks, especially since the whole point was often just a quick, cheap pickup order. It’s getting harder and harder to actually use these “benefits” without jumping through a dozen hoops. Honestly, between the markups and the new restrictions, it’s starting to feel more like a chore than a reward.

I did a pickup order at a restaurant yesterday for just over $5, so the total was like 30 cents after the $5 discount.

There is a workaround here (let’s see how long it lasts). Just put in for a delivery order and then right before you press order, change to pickup. $10 still applies (I tried it right now and it worked)

As another commenter said, it appears the minimum pickup order is $20, seemingly regardless of using the credit or not. At least at the 7-Eleven I used to go to. Looks like you could still get delivery without the restriction, but the fees and tip will eat $10 pretty quickly.

Confirming that I picked up from my local 7-11 with no issues, so it’s currently location dependent. One order of $2.58 after $10 discount and one order of $0.87 after $10 discount.

Also note that around Feb/Mar sometime, they put limits on alcohol (as it’s basically a coupon/discount, not a credit, and there’s state limits to how much you can discount alcohol).

This was a big bummer for me as there’s a liquor store on it near me and I used to use it most months for a good discount on a couple packs of beer and/or bottles of wine.

I lose about $6 on every $20 order with the price markups on every item plus the gas I burn.

Basically useless accept for buying unhealthy junk at a convince store

It comes down to how much time and effort these measly credits are worth….

This seems to be location specific. The 7-11 by me doesn’t seem to have this limitation (at least not yet).

I just placed 2x orders of just over $10 and am heading to pick them up shortly.

Does the dash pass auto renew if we forget to cancel?

Often, Chase-enabled Dash Pass is ineligible for certain promo code offers.

I’m sure this won’t be the straw that breaks the camels back, but the Enshitification is out of control across the board this year. I’m sure commenters will say every year, but it’s a particularly lousy year for downgrades so far.

As someone who’s been in the game since 2009, the myriad ways this game has been degraded in 2025-2026 is about the worst I can remember in a 1-2 year stretch. The game is always changing, things are always getting worse and better at the same time (and that’s still true) but this last year has been particularly brutal in some really costly ways.

They have now entered in a min. spend of $20 on pick up orders now. Used to be min. spend $10.Just tried to use for April month

For those that have asked, these DO NOT stack if you have multiple cards. Only the card with the highest level of benefits will show.

Food from convenience stores (Wawa, 7-Eleven) will count as non-restaurants so you can utilize the monthly codes there if you’re looking for a quick bite.
