View from the Wing reports on a development sure to excite American Airlines loyalists: AA has redesigned the account activity dashboard to make it easier to find and sort your transactions. This could be really useful for someone chasing American Airlines elite status and looking to track transaction activity carefully.
Previously, American Airlines had a very modern look to the account activity page, with transactions showing up in a series of white boxes that looked pretty, but couldn’t be sorted or searched easily. The tiles looked like this:
Now you can easily search or sort using a number of filters:
As Gary notes at View from the Wing, clicking on a transaction gives all of the pertinent details. When I clicked on one of my flights, I could see the date, confirmation number, ticket number, etc. All of that detail could be really useful if something fails to credit as you expected.
Overall, this is a really nice improvement to the user experience that I might not have expected to see given that it looks a little less “modern” this way. I’m glad to see that American chose function over form in this case.

The problem is they still not keep a running total. I keep meticulous excel spreadsheets and one time a flight was cancelled; I ended getting those points back or the system showed I got those points re-instated. However, my total was still the same on their website.
I went back n forth with them on X and via email w/ customer support for a long time. Finally, and thankfully, I keep those monthly emails showing account balances – I was able to actually prove to them they were wrong and they finally did correct their mistake; however, showing them there was a bug in their system was more concerning to me… I have had this happen on Marriott as well.
Keep your own records and as much support documentation as possible!
It’s nice to know that Gary is posting non-Jerry Springer stories again. I switched over to Frequent Miler exclusively about a year ago when his clickbait stories of misbehavior on airplanes and in airports started getting bad.
These devaluations have really gotten to me.
I thought this was the “AA has updated their award chart” that we’ve all been biting our nails just dreading the moment it drops.
