Bank of America has increased the welcome offer on the Alaska Airlines Business card to 70,000 Mileage Plan miles + a companion fare when spending $4,000 in the first 90 days of card membership. That’s just 5,000 miles short of the highest bonus we’ve ever seen on this card.

Quick Thoughts
This is a very good offer, and one that we haven’t seen on the Alaska Business card since 2023. In addition to the 70,000 bonus miles and companion fare, the card offers free checked bags for you and up to six other people on the same reservation, 20% off in-flight purchases and no foreign transaction fees.
As you’ll see above, the card comes with a $95 annual fee, with the fee working slightly differently to most other credit cards. There’s a $70 fee for the company and then a $25 fee per card, hence the $95 total fee if you’re not adding any employee cards.
While Bank of America does have application rules for consumer cards including how often you can apply for them, those rules don’t apply for the Alaska Airlines business card and so you should be able to earn the bonus again even if you’ve had the card in the last couple of years.
Bank of America Application Tips
- 2/3/4 Rule: You can open a maximum of 2 Bank of America cards every two months, three cards every 12 months and 4 cards every 24 months.
- 3/12 or 7/12 Rule: Similar to Chase's 5/24 rule, you won't be approved for a card if you have opened 3 or more accounts, with any bank, within the past 12 months. For those with Bank of America deposit accounts, the rule changes to 7 accounts in the past 12 months. Enforcement seems to vary.
- 24 Month Rule: With some BOA cards, you may have to wait 24 months after either opening or cancelling a card to be eligible for approval on that same card. This language varies from card to card and sometimes, applicant to applicant. Some business cards have language stating that you may be declined for additional credit card accounts if your business currently has, or has had, another business card with BOA in the preceding 24 months. Again, enforcement seems to vary.
- Velocity Limits: BOA will approve a maximum of two consumer cards per rolling 2 months, three per rolling 12 months, and four per rolling 24 months.
- Application Status: Call (866) 422-8089 to check your application status or use this link.
- Reconsideration: If denied, call (800) 732-9194 for reconsideration.
I was doing an Alaska award search a few minutes ago on my computer and discovered that the calendar search is no longer an option. That kinda sucks.
I think it’s still there? In my one-way award search, there’s the header that reads “Choose your flight”, and directly across to the right of it is a button “Calendar view”.
Thank you. I’m a doofus. I was checking round trip which I normally never do and that apparently precludes the calendar. Now I know better. Much appreciated.
If I already have the Alaska Business card and I’ve hit $6k spend in my anniversary year, how long does it take for the companion pass to appear in my Alaska Airlines account? Thanks in advance!
I’ve heard BoA is weird about business card approvals but have never tried it—I’m a sole proprietor and have only applied for Amex cards on the business side before but haven’t had a problem with them. Any tips or cautionary tales?
I’m targeted for the 80k SUB personal alaska card, am I safe to assume that I have an ok chance at getting approved for the biz version of it? I have no banking relationship with BoA so was surprised they targeted me for the personal card.
In other Alaska news “The 500 miles bonus posted today for my wife and myself for signing up for the premium card waitlist! (today 1/10/2025!)
Yep, mine just posted too.
