Quick Thoughts

Here’s a brief summary of what’s on offer from the Business Gold card with this change:

  • Earning Categories:
    • 4X – Combined spend in top two categories each billing cycle (capped at $150K spend per calendar year, then 1x):
      • Electronic goods retailers or software and cloud system providers in the U.S.
      • U.S. purchases at restaurants
      • Monthly wireless telephone service charges made directly from a wireless telephone service provider in the U.S.
      • U.S. purchases for advertising in select media
      • U.S. purchases at gas stations
      • Transit purchases, including trains, taxicabs, rideshare services, ferries, tolls, parking, buses, and subways.
    • 3x on eligible purchases through AmexTravel.com
    • 1x – everywhere else
  • Credits:
    • $240 Flexible Business Credit ($20/month)
      • U.S. purchases at FedEx, Grubhub, and Office Supply Stores
      • Enrollment required
    • $150 Squarespace credit (per calendar year)
      • Enrollment required
    • Up to $155 Walmart+ Membership ($12.95/month + taxes)

I’ve never used Squarespace, but I know that it can be a popular platform for many small businesses. If you’re already using it, then this is almost as good as cash and could make the Business Gold a net no-annual-fee card when you factor in the $240 business credits. For the rest of us, it’s neither here nor there.

Can you use this benefit to just pay for a domain or renewal/transfer?

Andrew James

as someone with a small business website, this is great!

Larry

How much is the square space yearly subscription or how does their subscription model work. It’s great to point out that there’s a credit but it’s difficult to gauge how valuable it may be without further pricing context.

From what I can see the cheapest option is $192/yr on an annual plan. So a max of 78% off. Useful if you use square space or are looking for something like it I suppose. I’m sure it would be useful businesses that use square space for their websites.

Sheng

If you have more than one ABBG, you can technically pay monthly and switch cards once you hit the $150 cap, but likely not worth it unless you need one of the more expensive plans anyway.
