There is yet another targeted welcome offer for the American Express Business Gold card, this one offering an incredible 150,000 Membership Rewards after $10K in spend and then tacking on an additional 5K when adding an employee card and spending $1K on it.

This 155K offer DOES NOT have once-in-a-lifetime language which excludes those who have the card or have had it in the past (and Amex always gives you a pop-up letting you know that you’re not eligible for the welcome bonus before it finalizes your application, regardless).

We’ve heard reports of this popping up in people’s accounts for a few weeks, and Doctor of Credit shared a link for it about a month ago. However, it appeared to be extremely targeted.

Now, it seems like more folks have been added to the chosen few. Although my wife wasn’t targeted for the offer, I was…and I was approved for it despite this being my 3rd Biz Gold.

It should be noted that we don’t know the origin of this link, outside of the fact that DOC posted it. However, the fact that you have to log-in in order to find out if you’re targeted makes it much safer (in my opinion) than what we call “post-targeted” links where there’s no log-in necessary.

The Deal

  • There is a targeted offer for the Amex Business Gold card that gives 150,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $10,000 within the first 3 months and then awards another $5K when adding an employee card and spending $1K within the first three months.
    • This is a no lifetime language (NLL) offer

Doctor of Credit Link (you must click “log-in to your account to access shorter, pre-filled application” and log-in to see if you are targeted)

If after you log-in, you see this message (or something like it), it means you’re not targeted:

Quick Thoughts

There’s been a bit of a lull in the Amex Points Parade for many folks, but it seems like it might be heating up again. This targeted offer is more than double the card’s current public offer and 20K better than the 130K referral offer that we’re displaying on our Best Offers page.

The Business Gold card can be a great card for many folks given the attractive 4x bonus categories and the monthly statement credit for office store purchases. Even if you didn’t take advantage of any of the bonus categories, this works out to 15.5x MR on $10K spend…an absolutely stellar deal. I believe that this is the best offer that we’ve ever seen for the Business Gold card.

It should be noted that the there’s the potential for the current 130K referral offer to be better than 155K if you’re in 2-player mode and one of the two can generate the referral. This could add anywhere from 15K – 45K additional MR, an even snazzier haul than what’s offered here.

Offer still going strong – had this among the list of AMEX offers for my Business Platinum (opened in January) for a little while and it’s popped up twice while navigating my AMEX online account. Pulled the trigger now that we’re near mid-July, wanted to get closer on finishing up other SUBs first. It showed I was pre-approved when I clicked through from the account pop-up.

With P2 starting a Master’s program the tuition payment should pretty much cover the spend in one easy purchase, great timing!

slaven

not targeted and in need of a card to use for amazon prime day & days prior. amex is only one that offers an immediate number to use if approved.

Deion

anyone know how long this type offer usually last?

DP: Got approved for a 2nd Amex Gold biz today via the referral link posted on DOC. I last applied for my 1st Biz gold on Feb 13th,2024. NLL offer ftw, many thanks to the Frequent Miler

Johnny

Seems crazy that I got SUB on this card 9 months ago and just got approved for the 155k offer on 2nd card. Not complaining! Somebody at Amex gonna lose their job over this one haha

Matthew

Instead of adding 1 employee card when applying then spending $1k for for 5,000 points is it not better to skip that and use the offer below you recently highlighted where you would add 5 employees and each spend $2k for 5,000 such that you end up with 175,000 points instead of 155,000?

https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/business/campaigns/employee-cards/business-platinum/incentive/5k-offer/

Matthew

I think if you are just going to spend $10,000 doing what I highlighted yields the most points @ 175,000 points. If you do both and spend $10,000 I only see getting 171,000. I guess if you spend $11,000 then you could yield 180,000 which is probably the most optimal scenario here if you can swing that extra $1,000 spend. Thanks for all you guys do!

Chris

Your math is off somewhere. 150k sign up. Spend 1k to get 5k. Then sign up for 4 more, which would be spend 8k for 20k. Still arrive at the same 175k either way if you don’t feel like spending more than 10K. No matter how you look at it, you’re getting 5k * 5 EC. One way just requires 9k spend vs 10K spend, which is irrelevant since you need to do 10k for SUB anyways.

Matthew

Chris. I agree with your correction Main thing I wanted to get across was there is an additional promotion out there that can sweeten this. People should think about adding spouse as employee/get creative to fill out some employees.

Kaza

Can’t believe I was approved, and I got the same card about 7 months ago. Still feeling skeptical… Thanks!

But, I didn’t realize I had to add an employee card at the time of application for the additional points. It seemed weird to add an employee card as a sole proprietor, so I didn’t. Aaargh.

Hi, Tim! This is a very good welcome offer, thanks for sharing.

Back in January, days before the fee increase, I was approved for an offer of 150,000 MR after 10k in spend. What made this offer fantastic was the ability to receive 15,000 MR for every employee card that spent $4,000. I put $4k spend on each employee card and received an extra 45,000 MR, bringing my total to 195,000 MR after $12,000 total of spend. And the employee card offer was extended an extra 3 months, so I just finished the remaining $2,000 spend on the final EC and received the last 15,000 MR!

I believe that worked out to 16.25x MR and I don’t *believe* there’s been anything better than that, unless the 20k EC offers that were available a while back also coincided with a 150k SUB.

Jay

Can I pay federal taxes with Amex Biz Gold to count toward the SUB spend?

Chris

Tried and logged in but apparently not targeted since I got the message about offer no longer available. But when I reviewed a list of offers that were available (still logged in), there was a 125k offer given but said for just the session. Had this card until cancelled a year ago.

Jed

Did you apply and get approved?

Tyler

P1 saw this via email and in the login last month and acted on it. P2 had 100k targeted, P3 had no targets. This link worked for P2 and P3 when it didn’t previous times DoC had posted it. Thanks!

John

Approved! Thanks guys! Currently in pop-up jail and this is my second business gold in the last 10 months.

Arthur

Thx for the heads up, Tim. I had to use incognito mode to get approved (my 3rd).

Nick

I currently have 3 hiltons, blue cash and everyday (all personal) – will I get hung up on max # of cards and should I close one first?

actualmichael

Biz Gold is charge card. There are separate limits for charge cards verses credit cards with AmEx. You’re limited to 5 credit cards with AmEx, but you can have something like 20 charge cards. You should be fine.

satellite

10 charge cards, 5 credit cards

Lala

So surprised I got it, considering I closed my Amex personal and business platinum a month ago. Second gold business card now. Thank you!
