The Amex Gold card isn’t the only card with a higher offer available via referral right now. The consumer Amex Platinum card also has an elevated welcome offer only available via referral link which is awarding 175,000 bonus Membership Rewards points after meeting minimum spending requirements. Note that this offer DOES have Amex’s “once-in-a-lifetime” language.
We’ll be collecting reader referral links for those who were targeted so we can share them with others on our Best Offers Page. The details on how to participate with your link (if you are targeted) are below.

We want your 175K offer referral links
Here at Frequent Miler, our Best Credit Card Offers page always links to the best available welcome offer, even if that’s not an affiliate link. The best offer for the Amex Platinum card through affiliate channels is currently only 125,000 Membership Rewards points, that’s why you’ll see many other points and miles sites hawking that inferior version.
However, we always present the best offer for new applicants, even when it doesn’t benefit our site through affiliate commissions. We want to share the wealth by using readers’ referral links on the site. We will need reader links for the 175K offer.
If you’d like to have your referral link shared on the Best Offers page, here’s what you need to do:
Step 1: Check your referral link
Only some Platinum card holders can refer to this new offers. We need reader links, but only those targeted to refer directly to this new offer. The best way to know if you are targeted is to log in to your Amex account and scroll to the bottom to click the link that says “refer a friend” (You can also find it here).
Then choose your Platinum card from the menu at the top. That page will show what offer your friend will get when they use their link. If it says that your friend will receive 175,000 points after $8K in purchases in the first 6 months, you are targeted to refer to this new best offer. If it says any amount other than 175,000 there, you’re not eligible.
Note that even if you only see 125K or some other amount in your Amex login, it’s still possible that your friend will click through your link and see a 175K offer sometimes. However, the link will not always populate the 175K offer unless your Amex login says that your friend will receive 175K points. We can only use links on our best offers page that always populate the 175K offer.
Step 2: Join the Frequent Miler Insiders Facebook group
If you’re already part of our Facebook group, you can skip this step. If you’re not a member though, you’ll need to join this group. Note that you’ll be asked a question or two (depending on if you try joining on mobile or desktop) to ensure you’re not a bot. Please answer that question(s), otherwise you won’t get admitted to the group in order to do step 3.
Step 3: Share your link on the dedicated thread
We have a dedicated thread set up to share your 175K link, so please only share your referral links here as a reply to the first comment. We’ll then work our way through the links for as long as this increased offer is only available via referrals. We will rotate through links there regularly to try to give as many readers as possible a chance at picking up a referral bonus.
Please don’t share your referral link as an individual post in the group as it’ll just get deleted. Please also don’t share a non-175K referral link as that’ll get deleted too.
Comments on the blog with links automatically get caught in our spam filter and will not post. Instead, the above Facebook thread is the only place we’ll be accepting referral links (sorry if you’re not on Facebook).
Referral links haven’t been working for this card when I tried them.
I was still able to pull up the 175K offer for P2 (and they were just approved!). Searching for “AMEX Platinum 40th anniversary” in Bing on an InPrivate tab of Edge and clicking the first link pretty reliably brings up this highest offer.
I thought I saw a DP about how to get Amex MR card referrals back – I only can refer Co-Branded cards –
its been quite sometime since we (P1/P2) have been MR Referral Jail .- we’ve had MR cards for years and never self referred.
Current link on your page appears to be dead as of just now
So do NOT share a 150k referral link?
Correct
I will take the 150k link if you have it
no way to sare a link if not on Facebook?
*share
I’m afraid not
