November 1 is coming up which means it’s time for another Bilt Rent Day. This coming month’s offers are potentially pretty good and if you’re a Bilt and/or Alaska cardholder it’s worth being aware that two of the offers have already started.
The Deal
- Bilt Rent Day deals for November include:
- Targeted 50%-100% transfer bonus to British Airways Avios
- Waived rent payment transaction fees for Alaska cardholders for the first $2,500 of rent spend (this is targeted)
- Bilt cardholders earn 2x at grocery stores on up to $500 spend
- Bilt cardholders earn double points on November 1
Key Terms
- Avios transfer bonus – expires November 1, 2024 at 11:59pm PT.
- Waived rent payment transaction fees – valid October 28-November 1, 2024 at 11:59pm PT for first $2,500 of rent.
- Bilt cardholders at grocery stores – valid October 29-31, 2024 at 11:59pm ET with limit of 500 bonus points.
Quick Thoughts
This is a slightly different set of Rent Day promos because the two highlights – the Avios transfer bonus and the Alaska cardholder waived rent fee – are both targeted. for the Alaska offer you might not be targeted at all, while with the Avios transfer bonus you will be targeted for that; it’s just the percentage that’s targeted.
With regards to the Alaska cardholder offer, that could be a nice offer if you are targeted. As a reminder, Bilt and Alaska have a partnership whereby you earn 3x Mileage Plan miles when paying your rent through Bilt. There’s normally a 3% transaction fee, so with that being waived for some cardholders on the first $2,500 of your rent payment by November 1, you could save up to $75 while still earning 3x.
That Alaska promo began yesterday for those targeted, while another Rent Day promo started early today. If you’re a Bilt cardholder, you can earn 2x points on spend at grocery stores from today (October 29) through October 31. The maximum number of bonus points you can earn is 500, so that’s double points on up to $500 of spend.
Don’t forget that Chase is offering a 30% transfer bonus to Avios programs through October 31, while Citi is offering a 35% transfer bonus to Qatar Avios (which can be transferred/combined with your British Airways Avios account) through October 31 as well.
How do you transfer Avios from BA to Iberia now that Avios.com no longer does transfers?
If your accounts are already linked, try calling the BA service team.
I got the 100% Avios transfer bonus. Is it worth it to transfer speculatively? I have no flights planned but have about 100k Bilt points. I honestly am not that familiar with Avios, have never had or used any.
That’s a tricky one. You could certainly get good value out of 200k Avios, but if you’re not familiar with the program then it’s hard to recommend actually doing that when another 100% bonus for a different program that you do use could come along in the next few months.
Thanks Stephen. I tend to agree. There are 4 of us, and unlike Nick, I don’t have an endless supply of points (due to his career) and the seemingly complete flexibility to travel anywhere at anytime.
I got a 50% bonus offer but it said it didn’t start for another 2 days. It’s a shame the bonus isn’t tied to status this time around, Bilt is making up my mind for me to stop h spending on their card
Bilt has disconnected size of transfer bonus from Bilt tier status. In a comment on Reddit, a Bilt executive stated that the disconnect and allocation of transfer bonus levels was to align cardholder behavior with Bilt partners’ interests. (That’s a fair paraphrase.)
Regular readers know that I was a Bilt fan. I benefited massively. But, early in 2024, I sensed change was a foot. My comments to other articles expressed this. With the current disconnect, a cardholder has no sense of certainty about tier status. My advice is that a person collect points on rent but focus on other points ecosystems. Best of luck to all.
And now limiting bonus points to 1,000? I was a huge fan, too, but the card now is relegated to collecting random points on Lyft & their restaurant network & only some of my HOA. I’ve never seen such a rapid degradation of what was a very valuable card & program.
I think this point is underappreciated. The value of going for Bilt status was already a mystery since there are few published benefits and you just have to have faith that they decide to offer you something good. Now having that higher status is being disconnected from being offered better deals. So going for status is a gamble that has an even lower probability of paying out.
I’m currently Gold and scheduled to go down to Silver for 2025. I was debating whether it made sense to put another $5k on the Bilt card to get to Gold for next year. I currently have 90k points and will earn ~60k in a year. Assuming that Gold gets me an additional 25% transfer bonus over Silver, my best case scenario is that they offer a transfer bonus to something I want at the end of next year and Gold would get me an extra 37.5k points. Which I just can’t justify moving $5k spend over for given the probability is so low. And now I happened to be targeted for the 100% Avios bonus now, so maybe I just cash out everything now for that.
Do you have more details about the Alaska cardholder benefit.
if I am already paying rent with my Bilt card to get the points from that, do I change over my card to the Alaska cardholder for one month, or is it any rent payment, even by paying another rent account?
Depends how you pay your rent with Bilt. If you pay with your Bilt CC, you will need to add your Alaska Airlines CC to your Bilt wallet, then switch the payment card you want to use to pay rent, then use the special Bilt routing and account number on your rent portal.
Based on data points from the last few months, the rental company processes the rent on the 1st, but you don’t see the charge come through on your Alaska Airlines CC until a few days later until the 3rd or 4th with the description BPS*BILT RENT PAYMENT. The charge includes the 3% Bilt service fee.
With this promo, the service fee should be 0% for the first $2,500 of the rent payment.
I realize it was a two-part question, but the most important part was part 2.
I should have not included the first part as a part of the question.
I already pay my daughter’s rent with my Bilt card. I am wondering if I am able to pay additional rent in order to get the Alaska points and subsequently get the 3% discount.
Also, I see an incorrect autocorrection. It should say Alaska card, not cardholder.
Are you targeted for the Alaska rent promotion? If not, end of discussion.
Why is there always 1? Geez!
is it possible for people who have nothing productive to add to just abstain.
y’all make the world a difficult place to live for no good reason other than to force people to share in your misery.
I’m trying to save you from a potential mistake. I’m not trying to give you grief. If you are not targeted by Bilt for the fee waiver, Bilt will charge you 3 percent should you pay rent with your Alaska card. This is why I asked. I’ll ask again in all sincerity, are you targeted for the fee waiver?
Do you mean make a pre-payment toward the next month’s rent or pay rent for another property?
I mean to pay rent for another property, but I did not think about making a pre-payment.
Either of those may work.
I have the Bilt card, and decided to do my best to maximize my return, but I still don’t know enough about it.
I’m not sure how Bilt will react if you pay rent for more than 1 property per month. If you prepay the rent, I’m not sure how the rental company will process that payment. Just some things to keep in mind.
No can do. In the past, reports of shutdowns for multiple rent payments.
Ya that’s what I assumed would happen.
Also, apparently some people used the rent ACH credentials for payments other than rent. Such as . . . let your imagination wander. When discovered, those people were shut down.
