There are some amazing business class fares available right now on Qatar Airways from Vietnam to most of the world — including to many North American cities, Europe, etc from just $572 round trip to some parts of the world, and complex itineraries with stopovers possible.
For example, you could fly to cities like New York or Atlanta for ~$711 round trip. Some examples follow, but note that these fares are widely available through at least December 2017 (and you could even take the outbound from Vietnam to the US now and then return to Vietnam in December). Click the titles or images below to go to Google Flights:
Ho Chih Minh to Atlanta (August 17-31 shown)
Ho Chih Minh to New York (August 2-16 shown)
Ho Chih Minh to Dallas (September 6-20 shown)
Ho Chih Minh to Chicago (November 14-28 shown)
Prices to other parts of the world can be even better, with round trip fares to Johannesburg, South Africa available for less than $600 round trip. That’s amazing in business class.

Ho Chih Minh to Paris (September 5-19)
Similar airfares are available from Hanoi as well. And if you want to be adventurous and have some time, you can build in stopovers. I did not hunt for the best price on this, but here is an itinerary round trip from Hanoi to New York with stopovers in both Bangkok and Doha for juse $958 round trip.

Mileage Earning
These fares book into R Class. That means they will earn 100% redeemable miles if credited to American Airlines or 125% if credited to British Airways, Iberia, or Japan Airlines. Earnings shown below are from wheretocredit.com.
Bottom line
These fares are unbelievable and likely will not last long. Unfortunately, I do not see these flights available to book in the Amex Travel portal and the prices are more than $3,500 through Chase Ultimate Rewards or Citi ThankYou portals, meaning that using points to pay doesn’t seem to be an option. Still, with the potential mileage earning, and the possibility of booking flights on flights with Qatar’s new Q-suites business class product, you’re getting plenty of bang for your buck, Itineraries going through the United States should be cancellable for 24 hours, but check the terms of the site through qhich you book. I see these prices available through a variety of OTAs or through Qatar Airways’s website. Best of luck if you’re getting in on this sale!
H/T: Flyertalk by way of One Mile at a Time
Was able to snag one from SGN. When I went to book it came up as a “golden ticket” promo price. So I’m hopeful that it will hold up because it was marketed as a promotional deal, rather than a normal fare that didn’t include a base fare. Have already received confirmation email for eticket. Added seat assignments, etc. Fingers crossed.
I have used my Amex platinum business card. How do I use points to pay and get 50% rebate? Is it automatic or I need to call?
Dave, to apply points for the purchase and get rebate you have to book through Amex Travel. https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/benefits/detail/airline-bonus/business-platinum
Hi Dave — as Nicholas said, you are supposed to book directly through Amex to get the rebate (this is why I said in the post that the flights were not available through Amex Travel and so using points was not an option).
That said, you can try calling as outlined in this post:
https://frequentmiler.com/2017/02/09/amex-business-platinum-awesome-1-time-exception/
But I’m not sure whether you’ll be able to get the points back on a flight that they don’t even list for sale. I’d just proceed carefully if you go that route and takes notes of the time you called and the rep you spoke with if you do go that route — and make sure to double or triple confirm that you will get the points rebate if you apply your points.
Can you show us an updated routing that has any availability in the price range close to what you posted? from any city to any city.
Sorry B — I’m from the East Coast, so I was asleep by the time you commented here (and the deal may have been gone by that time)
it is not that Google flights are unreliable, the fares were mistakes and Qatar had taken it down. the story went up a few hours ago so by the time this was written and posted, things have changed.
Note that Google Flights is HIGHLY unreliable on these at the moment. While it looks like there is a lot of availability, clicking through yields standard biz class fares. It seems there is very little opportunity on this one left. Tried a couple of your examples above and the fares do not hold.
Try changing the dates. I still see 4-5 seats available on the Qatar Airways site for dates around some of the ones that are no longer available. Of course it depends on where you’re going. You’ll have to move fast.
