A reader wrote in the other day to bring to our attention the fact that some Capital One cardholders can see vacation rentals when searching for lodging at Capital One Travel. This apparently launched more than a year ago, but we hadn’t previously realized it or reported about this, so we wanted to share with readers who may not realize that it is possible to use the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card’s annual travel credit toward a vacation rental and/or earn 5x miles on those bookings.
As you can see in the screen shot above, when searching for lodging, eligible cardholders will find a filter for “vacation rentals” when searching in an area where Capital One Travel has access to vacation rental inventory.
It seems that some cardholders don’t have access to book vacation rentals. When you log in at Capital One Travel, if you see a tab labeled “stays”, then you should see the ability to filter to vacation rentals after running a lodging search (assuming there are vacation rentals available in the area where you search).

Keep in mind that there aren’t vacation rentals available everywhere; Capital One doesn’t seem to have integrated a full Airbnb-style inventory but rather has access to some vacation rentals. However, I’ve found them available in popular vacation rental areas like Pigeon Forge, TN.
I’ve only searched a handful of areas, but I’ve seen properties very similar to what one might find when searching Airbnb, Vrbo, etc.
You’ll obviously want to shop around, but my first couple of searches yielded prices roughly comparable to what I saw elsewhere. For instance, a three-night stay at the second property in the screen show above came to $1,069 via Capital One Travel with taxes included. The same exact listing was also available via Vrbo for $1,038 all-in, so you could save a few bucks booking via Vrbo, though some will be happy to put the $300 Venture X travel credit to use in a situation like that and/or to earn 5 Capital One miles per dollar spent.
Again, this isn’t actually a new development — Capital One announced this as an expansion to its Premier and Lifestlye collections about a year ago. However, we thought it worth posting for anyone who may have missed that.

Doesn’t look like I have this yet on P1 or P2.
Are property reviews included in the listing? If not then it isn’t much use unless you can find the same property on a site like Airbnb or VRBO and read a sufficient number of reviews to know what you are getting.
