Frequent Miler's latest team challenge, Million Mile Madness, is almost done! The last two weeks Greg, Nick, and Stephen competed to earn 1 Million SAS miles by flying 15 airlines. But who completed the challenge with the most Speed, Affordability, and Style?
Update: Greg the Frequent Miler has confirmed that Chase Private Clients can get a 65K offer from their banker.
Chase has increased the bonus on the Sapphire Preferred from 45K to 55K after $4K in spend during the first three months plus adding an authorized user. The $95 annual fee is waived the first year.
The Offer
The 55K bonus is paid out as follows:
Earn 50,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchase in the first 3 months from account opening* – that’s $625 towards airfare or hotels when you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards®.
Earn 5,000 bonus points after you add the first authorized user and make a purchase in the first 3 months from account opening.*
The Chase Sapphire Preferred earns 2X on dining and travel and opens up the ability to transfer Ultimate Rewards points to travel partners. You cannot receive this bonus if you currently have the card or have received a bonus for it in the past 24 months.
You can find the application link on the Best Signup Offers page.
Churners?
Do note that Chase has been very strict with approvals for the Sapphire Preferred card lately for people who have applied for a lot of credit cards. Many people report being denied for having more than 5 new credit cards across all banks during the past 24 months.

Is it known how long the CSP 55K promotion lasts? Waiting for Costco to accept Visa to meet the 4000 in three months. THX!
Costco.com accepts Visa. You can buy Costco cash cards and use those to shop in Costco.
When this site first posted about this offer being on the horizon, you also suggested that Chase Private Client customers would get an extra 10,000 UR (https://frequentmiler.com/2015/11/04/sapphire-preferred-55k-and-freedom-17-5k-offers-coming-soon/). Do you know if that’s the case? Thanks!
Yes, I confirmed this with a Chase Private Client banker. 60K + 5K for adding an authorized user.
Do you have any idea on how long this offer will last? Went in the bank today but the banker advised me to go for Freedom first due to short credit history. Would hate to miss this offer… Thanks!
Has anyone successfully negotiated the increased bonus on an existing card? I received a sapphire card during the last few days of October. I called the number on the back of the card asking for the increased signup bonus. They said I first need to complete the required spending and then call to talk with marketing department and maybe then I would be given the extra 10k points. What has your experience been?
I have always had good luck when a public offer comes out very soon after a new application
[…] special thank you goes out to Frequent Miler for posting about this new card […]
I have 6 in last 24 months, but 2 are business cards … does that matter?
Business cards don’t generally show on your credit report, so you should be alright. With that said, this isn’t a hard rule anyway and there are a ton of other factors that go into approvals, so there is definitely no guarantee either way.
Thanks …One more question. if all other factors are good and there are only 4 personal cards , on the day I apply for CSP, could I possibly apply and be approved for the Chase Ink Cash Business card?
